Optovit select

Optovit select is a vitamin preparation used to treat vitamin E deficiency.It contains 671.37 mg RRR-alpha-tocopherol per soft capsule, a particularly easy-to-use active ingredient made from pure plant oils.This preparation is suitable for both initial therapy and long-term therapy and only requires taking one capsule daily.

Area of application

Optovit select is used to treat vitamin E deficiency.However, it is not suitable for cases where the deficiency is due to impaired absorption of vitamin E from the intestine.In such situations, parenteral preparations (injection solutions) are the better choice.

Each Optovit select soft capsule contains 671.37 mg RRR-alpha-tocopherol, which is contained in 699.93 - 808.54 mg distillate from vegetable oil.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: refined soybean oil, gelatin, glycerol, sorbitol and purified water.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to vitamin E, soy, peanut or any of the other ingredients.Particular caution is required if you are also taking medicines to inhibit blood clotting or have a vitamin K deficiency.In these cases you should consult your doctor.

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is one soft capsule daily, equivalent to 671.37 mg RRR-alpha-tocopherol.The duration of use depends on the course of the underlying disease and should be discussed with your doctor.Take the soft capsule whole with sufficient liquid.No prescription is required for this product.

Intake

Please take the soft capsule whole with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of drinking water).

Patient information

Take special care if you are also taking certain medicines to inhibit blood clotting or if you suffer from a vitamin K deficiency.In these cases you should consult your doctor.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy you should consume 13 mg of vitamin E daily.Vitamin E crosses the placenta and so far no damage has been observed in the unborn child.If you are breastfeeding, you should consume 17 mg of vitamin E daily, as vitamin E passes into breast milk.

Optovit select is not suitable for the treatment of vitamin E deficiencies that are associated with impaired absorption of vitamin E from the intestine.The richest sources of vitamin E are grain germs and vegetable oils.Other sources include leafy vegetables, animal organs, and milk and butter.Estimating the supply of vitamin E is difficult due to the widely varying vitamin E content of foods and seasonal fluctuations.According to the recommendation of the German Nutrition Society (DGE), the daily amount of vitamin E for healthy adults is 12 mg.During pregnancy and breastfeeding there is an additional requirement of 2 to 5 mg per day.A vitamin E deficiency can arise from insufficient absorption from the intestines, metabolic disorders or increased consumption.Deficiency symptoms include cell and tissue damage, especially in premature babies, as well as nerve and muscle failure.
