Contraindications

Dosage

In the case of severe abnormal sensations caused by diabetic polyneuropathy, intravenous administration in adults is recommended in a dosage of 12 ml to 24 ml per day, which corresponds to 300 mg to 600 mg alpha-lipoic acid per day.The injection solution is administered intravenously over a period of 2 to 4 weeks in the initial phase of treatment.

Intake

The preparation may only be administered as an infusion in isotonic saline solution.

Patient information

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, medicines should only be used after carefully weighing the benefits and risks.Pregnant and breastfeeding women should only undergo treatment with alpha-lipoic acid after careful recommendation and monitoring by a doctor, as there is currently no experience with this patient group.Nothing is known about the possible excretion of alpha-lipoic acid into breast milk.
