This medicine is a combination of vitamins and minerals.It is used to support the treatment of osteoporosis.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The medicine contains 1500 mg of calcium carbonate, which corresponds to 600 mg of calcium ions.Additionally it contains 400 international units (IE) of colecalciferol, also known as vitamin D3.Alpha-tocopherol, gelatin, magnesium stearate, corn starch, saccharin sodium, sucrose, silicon dioxide, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, xylitol, sodium ions and flavorings are present as excipients.

Contraindications

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, colecalciferol or any of the other ingredients.Its use is also contraindicated if there is an increased calcium level in the blood, increased calcium excretion in the urine or severe kidney dysfunction.

Dosage

The recommended dosage is one chewable tablet twice daily, equivalent to 1200 mg ionized calcium and 800 IE vitamin D3.The length of time you take it depends on your doctor’s instructions.Overdose may cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, thirst, increased urination and constipation.In such cases you should contact your doctor immediately.Forgotten doses should not be made up.If you have any questions about use, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

The chewable tablets should be taken with meals.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you have had kidney stones in the past or have a certain lung disease (sarcoidosis).During long-term treatment, your doctor will monitor blood calcium levels and kidney function.This is particularly important if you are older or are also taking heart-strengthening or diuretic medications.In case of hypercalcemia or signs of renal impairment, your doctor will reduce the dose or stop therapy.If you take other vitamin D preparations at the same time, the daily dose should be taken into account.Additional administration of vitamin D or calcium should be carried out under medical supervision.The ability to drive is not affected by the medicine.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.During pregnancy, the medicine should only be taken after the doctor has carefully weighed the benefits and risks and only in the dosage that is absolutely necessary to correct the deficiency.Overdoses of vitamin D during pregnancy must be prevented, as long-term hypercalcemia can lead to physical and mental disability, aortic narrowing and retinal diseases in the child.Vitamin D and its metabolites pass into breast milk.An overdose in infants caused in this way has not been observed.
