Calcilac chewable tablets are a medicinal product used for the prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiency in elderly people and as support for specific osteoporosis therapy. The tablets contain calcium and vitamin D3, which are important for bone formation. It is recommended that the tablets are taken twice a day, either chewed or sucked. People who are allergic to calcium, vitamin D or other ingredients should not take the medicine. Various interactions with other medicines may occur, so it is important to consult the doctor or pharmacist before using other medicines. Side effects may include constipation, flatulence, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, itching, skin rash and hives. In case of an overdose, there may be an increased level of calcium in the blood. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking the medicine. The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children and protected from moisture. No more than 15 packs per quarter may be dispensed. The dosage and duration of use should be agreed with a doctor.
