Calcilac® chewable tablets are a medicine that was specially developed for bone building.The chewable tablets contain the active ingredients calcium carbonate and colecalciferol, also known as vitamin D3.These substances are essential for maintaining healthy bones.

The chewable tablets are used to prevent and treat vitamin D and calcium deficiencies in older people.They can also serve as a supplement to support specific osteoporosis therapy, especially in patients who are at risk of vitamin D and calcium deficiency.No prescription is required for this product.

The other ingredients of the chewable tablets include sorbitol, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, dextrose-maltose-saccharide mixture, lemon flavor, magnesium stearate, starch[hydrogen-2-(oct-1-en-1-yl)butandioat]sodium salt, aspartame, sucrose, sodium ascorbate, medium-chain triglycerides, colloidal silicon dioxide and all-rac-α-tocopherol.

Areas of application

Calcilac® chewable tablets are used to prevent and treat calcium and vitamin D deficiencies in older people.They also support specific osteoporosis therapy in patients with an increased risk of vitamin D and calcium deficiency.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each chewable tablet contains 500 mg of calcium, provided as calcium carbonate, and 10 micrograms of colecalciferol, equivalent to 400 international units of vitamin D3, as colecalciferol dry concentrate.

In addition to the active ingredients, the preparation also contains sorbitol, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, dextrose-maltose-saccharide mixture, lemon flavor, magnesium stearate, starch[hydrogen-2-(oct-1-en-1-yl)butandioat]sodium salt, aspartame, sucrose, sodium ascorbate, medium-chain triglycerides, highly disperse silicon dioxide and all-rac-α-tocopherol.

Contraindications

Calcilac® chewable tablets must not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.It is also not suitable if the calcium content in the blood or urine is too high, if you have calcium-containing kidney stones, impaired kidney function or if the vitamin D content in the blood is too high.

Dosage

The usual dosage is one chewable tablet twice daily.The tablets can either be chewed or sucked.It is recommended to take it with a meal.

Patient information

Before taking Calcilac® chewable tablets, you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist, especially in the case of long-term treatment, impaired kidney function, a strong tendency to kidney stone formation, sarcoidosis, immobilization with osteoporosis or taking other vitamin D or calcium preparations.

In the case of osteoporosis, it is recommended to determine the calcium level in the blood before starting treatment.During long-term treatment, the calcium content should be checked regularly.If kidney function is impaired, the doctor should monitor the effect of treatment on calcium and phosphate balance.

Calcilac® chewable tablets are not intended for children and adolescents.No studies have been conducted on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines, but an adverse effect is unlikely.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the medicine can be used for calcium and vitamin D deficiency.However, daily intake should not exceed 1,500 mg of calcium and 600 international units of vitamin D.The daily dose must not exceed one tablet per day.

Calcilac® chewable tablets contain sorbitol, aspartame, sodium compounds and sucrose.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the package.
