Calcilac® chewable tablets - with calcium and vitamin D3

Calcilac® chewable tablets are chewable tablets that contain calcium and vitamin D3.These two substances are essential for building bones.The product is available without a prescription.

Areas of application

Calcilac® chewable tablets are used to prevent and treat calcium and vitamin D deficiencies in older people.They also serve as a supplement to support specific osteoporosis therapy for patients who are at risk of vitamin D and calcium deficiency.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each Calcilac® chewable tablet contains 500 mg of calcium in the form of calcium carbonate and 10 micrograms of colecalciferol, equivalent to 400 international units of vitamin D3.In addition, the preparation contains the following other ingredients: sorbitol, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, dextrose-maltose-saccharide mixture, lemon flavor, magnesium stearate, starch[hydrogen-2-(oct-1-en-1-yl)butandioat]sodium salt, aspartame, sucrose, sodium ascorbate, medium-chain triglycerides, highly disperse silicon dioxide and all-rac-α-tocopherol.

Contraindications

Calcilac® chewable tablets must not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.The preparation should also not be used if the calcium content in the blood or urine is too high, if there are kidney stones containing calcium, if the kidney function is impaired or if the vitamin D content in the blood is too high.

Dosage and intake

The usual dose is one chewable tablet twice daily.The tablets can be chewed or sucked.It should preferably be taken with a meal.

Patient information

Before taking Calcilac® chewable tablets, you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you require long-term treatment, have impaired kidney function, are prone to kidney stone formation, have sarcoidosis or are taking other vitamin D or calcium supplements.In the case of osteoporosis, it is recommended to have the calcium level in the blood checked before starting treatment.During long-term treatment, the calcium content of the blood must be checked regularly.Children and adolescents should not use the product.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Calcilac® chewable tablets.During pregnancy, the daily intake of 1,500 mg calcium and 600 IU vitamin D should not be exceeded.Breastfeeding mothers can use the product, but should note that the active ingredients can pass into breast milk.

Notes
