Calcilac® chewable tablets

Calcilac® chewable tablets are a preparation that contains calcium carbonate and colecalciferol (vitamin D3) as active ingredients.This medicine is used to prevent and treat vitamin D and calcium deficiencies in older people.It can also serve as an adjunct to support specific osteoporosis therapy for patients at risk of vitamin D and calcium deficiency.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each Calcilac® chewable tablet contains 500 mg of calcium, which is present as calcium carbonate, and 10 micrograms of colecalciferol (vitamin D3), which is equivalent to 400 international units.The other ingredients include sorbitol, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, a dextrose-maltose saccharide mixture, lemon flavor, magnesium stearate, starch[hydrogen-2-(oct-1-en-1-yl)butandioat]sodium salt, aspartame, sucrose, sodium ascorbate, medium-chain triglycerides, colloidal silica and all-rac-α-tocopherol.

Contraindications

Calcilac® chewable tablets must not be taken if you are allergic to one of the ingredients, have too high a calcium content in your blood or urine, have calcium-containing kidney stones, have impaired kidney function or have too high a vitamin D content in your blood.

Dosage and intake

The usual dose is one chewable tablet twice daily.The tablets can be chewed or sucked.It should preferably be taken with a meal.In the case of long-term treatment, the calcium content of the blood must be checked regularly.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine if you are on long-term treatment, have impaired kidney function or a strong tendency to kidney stone formation, you suffer from sarcoidosis, are immobilized with osteoporosis or are taking other vitamin D or calcium preparations.Children and adolescents should not use the product.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.During pregnancy, daily intake should not exceed 1,500 mg calcium and 600 IU vitamin D.The daily dose of the drug must not exceed one tablet per day.If you are breastfeeding, you can also use the product, although it should be noted that the active ingredients can pass into breast milk.

Notes

Contains sorbitol, aspartame, sodium compounds and sucrose.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
