Biocarn® Syrup - Supports the supply of muscles

Biocarn® syrup contains levocarnitine, a substance that the body needs to supply energy to the skeletal and cardiac muscles.The energy that the muscles need for their activity is obtained from long-chain fatty acids in the mitochondria.L-Carnitine enables these fatty acids to be transported into the mitochondria, where they can be used to produce energy.Carnitine is not consumed, but rather transports away the waste products of energy metabolism.If there is insufficient availability of L-carnitine, the fatty acids are stored unused, which leads to a lack of energy and faster muscle fatigue.

Long-term carnitine deficiency can lead to muscle weakness and wasting.The causes for this can be nutrient deficiency, increased stress or muscle diseases.By improving the supply of levocarnitine, the symptoms of muscle weakness and wasting can be alleviated.Biocarn® syrup can make a valuable contribution here.

The most important areas of application for Biocarn® syrup are to compensate for carnitine deficiency due to a vegetarian diet, increased physical activity, artificial nutrition or age-related insufficient supply of nutrients.It is also used to treat primary carnitine deficiency, to compensate for carnitine losses due to medication or dialysis, and to supplement the treatment of progressive muscular dystrophy of the Duchenne type, provided that functioning skeletal muscles are still present.

Mode of action

Carnitine is available to the body from two sources: the body's own production and dietary intake.The body produces L-carnitine from the amino acids lysine and methionine in the liver and kidneys, with B vitamins, vitamin C and iron serving as helpers.Additionally, carnitine is absorbed through certain foods, especially red meat.

A carnitine deficiency can be caused by certain diseases that affect carnitine utilization, vegetarian or vegan diets, increased carnitine consumption or, in rare cases, by impaired body production due to malfunctions in the liver or kidneys.

Biocarn® syrup contains 1 g of levocarnitine per 3.3 ml of syrup.Other ingredients include hydrochloric acid, sorbitol, purified water, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and lemon flavor.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients mentioned, the product should not be used.

Dosage

The recommended dose is 1 g levocarnitine (3.3 ml Biocarn® syrup = 1 measuring cup) per day.On days with hemodialysis treatment, Biocarn® syrup should be taken after completion of hemodialysis.The medicine can be taken pure or diluted with liquid, regardless of meals.The bioavailability of carnitine can be increased if Biocarn® syrup is taken in several individual doses.Interactions with food and drinks are not yet known.Due to its good tolerability, Biocarn® syrup is suitable for long-term use, although a doctor should decide on the duration of use.

Intake

The medicine can be diluted with liquid to take.It can be taken with meals or independently with hot drinks or juices.On hemodialysis treatment days, the drug should be taken after hemodialysis is completed.
