ASPIRIN® COMPLEX Granules - for colds or flu-like infections

ASPIRIN® COMPLEX is a combination preparation from Bayer with the active ingredients acetylsalicylic acid and pseudoephedrine.Thanks to these active ingredients, ASPIRIN® COMPLEX granules can relieve the symptoms of colds and flu-like infections such as runny nose symptoms.

Thanks to the acetylsalicylic acid it contains, the combination preparation has a targeted effect against cold symptoms such as fever, body aches and other cold pains such as sore throats and headaches.The vasoconstrictive property of pseudoephedrine promotes rapid swelling of the mucous membranes in the upper respiratory tract and sinuses.In this way, blockages in the nose can be solved, the secretions from the sinuses can flow away and breathing can be freed.

The duration of action of ASPIRIN® COMPLEX granules is up to six hours.This can provide long-lasting relief from cold symptoms and cold pain.

The active ingredients of ASPIRIN® COMPLEX in detail

Acetylsalicylic acid (ASS) has fever-reducing and pain-relieving properties and has an anti-inflammatory effect.As a prostaglandin inhibitor, the active ingredient influences the formation of the body's own messenger substances, which are involved in transmitting stimuli to the body's pain receptors.By inhibiting the formation of prostaglandins, the sensitivity of pain receptors decreases and pain and inflammatory symptoms can subside.Acetylsalicylic acid is one of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

In addition, ASPIRIN® COMPLEX granules contain pseudoephedrine hydrochloride.Pseudoephedrine causes the mucous membranes in the nose, sinuses and ear trumpets to decrease in swelling and thus relieves classic cold symptoms.

Application of ASPIRIN® COMPLEX granules

ASPIRIN® COMPLEX is used to treat cold symptoms such as fever and swelling of the mucous membranes of the nasal sinuses with a runny nose (rhinosinusitis).The symptoms that can be alleviated with the combination preparation in the context of a cold or flu-like infection also include cold pain such as sore throats, headaches and body aches.

ASPIRIN® COMPLEX contains white-yellowish granules for preparing a solution with water.

Aspirin Complex Granules are used in three steps:

Open the ASPIRIN® COMPLEX bag.Add the granules from 1 to 2 sachets to a glass of water and stir thoroughly.Note: The granules do not dissolve completely.Drink the entire glass immediately.

Important instructions for use:

Adults take 1 to 2 sachets as a single dose unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor.The maximum total daily dose is 6 sachets, unless the doctor has prescribed another maximum daily dose.It should not be taken for longer than 3 days without medical advice.Children and adolescents under 16 years of age must not take ASPIRIN® COMPLEX granules without a doctor's instructions.

Side effects of ASPIRIN® COMPLEX granules

As with the use of other painkillers and medicines, undesirable side effects can occur even after taking the ASPIRIN® COMPLEX granulate combination preparation as directed.

Interactions of ASPIRIN® COMPLEX granules

Taking several medicines at the same time can lead to interactions that can influence the intensity of the effect and the occurrence of side effects.

The effect of ASPIRIN® COMPLEX can be increased when other sympathomimetics are used at the same time (e.g. decongestant nasal drops or nasal sprays).Therefore, you should not use ASPIRIN® COMPLEX together with decongestant nasal sprays etc.

In addition, alcohol, garlic, ginger and other medicines that could contribute to an interaction should be avoided during use.If in doubt, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

When should ASPIRIN® COMPLEX not be taken?

Acetylsalicylic acid can reduce uric acid excretion and trigger a gout attack in people with a predisposition to this.If there is a tendency to gout, ASPIRIN® COMPLEX should not be used.

Take particular care if you suffer from allergies, hay fever, asthma, chronic respiratory diseases or permanent swelling of the nasal mucosa (e.g. due to nasal polyps).

People who suffer from gastrointestinal ulcers, prostate enlargement, high blood pressure, serious liver, heart and kidney damage or severe coronary heart disease must not use ASPIRIN® COMPLEX granules.This also applies to people who have a tendency to bleed.

ASPIRIN ® COMPLEX granules must not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

Mode of action

ASPIRIN® COMPLEX contains two active ingredients:

On the one hand, acetylsalicylic acid (ASS), which has fever-reducing, pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties.Acetylsalicylic acid develops its effect on certain endogenous messenger substances, the so-called prostaglandins, which ensure increased sensitivity of the pain receptors in the body.With the help of the active ingredient ASS , the formation of prostaglandins is inhibited, which reduces the sensitivity of the pain receptors - pain and inflammatory reactions are thus alleviated.

On the other hand, ASPIRIN® COMPLEX contains the active ingredient pseudoephedrine, which clears the stuffy nose and sinuses when you have a cold.Pseudoephedrine has vasoconstricting properties, which in turn causes the nasal mucosa to decrease in swelling - allowing you to breathe freely.

Contraindications

Dosage

Recommended use of ASPIRIN COMPLEX granules:

Granules ASPIRIN COMPLEX are granules that must be dissolved in water before ingestion.Add one or two sachets to a glass of water and stir well.Then drink the glass quickly.

The recommended dose for adults and adolescents (16 years and older) is:

Single dose: 1 - 2 sachets Maximum daily dose: up to 6 sachets

If the symptoms are more severe, it is recommended to take two sachets.If the symptoms subside, you can reduce the dose to one sachet.The single dose can be repeated at intervals of 4-8 hours if necessary.

Use in elderly patients Elderly patients may be particularly sensitive to pseudoephedrine and may react with insomnia or experience things that do not seem real (hallucinations).

Use in children There is a possible association between acetylsalicylic acid and Reye's syndrome when given to children.Reye's syndrome is a very rare but life-threatening disease.Therefore, the medicine should not be used in children under 16 years of age without medical advice.

Taking it with alcohol increases the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and impairs your ability to react

Driving and using machines Your ability to react may be impaired during treatment with the medicine.The risk can be increased if you drink alcohol at the same time.This must be taken into account for activities that require special attention, e.g.B. Driving a car.

Keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children.

Pregnancy

Due to a lack of experience with the combination of both active ingredients, the product must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.Before taking any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacy.
