Betadorm-D is a sleeping pill that belongs to the group of antihistamines.It is used for the short-term treatment of sleep disorders in adults and contains the active ingredient diphenhydramine hydrochloride.The product helps with difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep and is well tolerated.However, it is only suitable for short-term use.

One tablet of Betadorm-D contains 50 mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride as the active ingredient.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, pre-gelatinized starch (potato starch), cellulose powder, magnesium stearate (vegetable), talc and highly dispersed silicon dioxide.

Contraindications

Betadorm-D must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to diphenhydramine hydrochloride, other antihistamines or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.It is also not permitted to be taken in the case of acute asthma, glaucoma, certain tumors of the adrenal medulla, enlargement of the prostate gland with residual urine formation, epilepsy, potassium or magnesium deficiency, slow heartbeat, certain heart diseases or with the simultaneous use of drugs that prolong the QT-interval in the EKG or lead to hypokalemia.The preparation must also not be taken while taking alcohol or MAO-inhibitors or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.The medicine is not suitable for the treatment of children and adolescents up to 14 years of age.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.The usual dose for adults is one tablet (equivalent to 50 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride).This dose should not be exceeded.Patients with impaired liver or kidney function, as well as elderly or debilitated patients, may need to receive a lower dose.The duration of treatment should be as short as possible and generally only a few days without exceeding 2 weeks.If sleep disorders persist, you should consult a doctor.

Intake

The tablets are taken whole with a little liquid in the evening 30 minutes before going to bed.Adequate sleep duration of 7 to 8 hours should then be ensured.
