Instructions for use for Betaisodona ointment, 300 g
What is Betaisodona ointment?
Betaisodona ointment is a germicidal agent used to treat small, superficial wounds, burns and ulcers such as pressure sores and leg ulcers. The ointment supports the healing process and helps prevent infections. It is an antiseptic specially developed for use on skin and wounds.
Benefits of Betaisodona ointment
Betaisodona ointment has a germicidal effect and supports wound healing.A particular advantage is their broad spectrum of activity, which is effective against many pathogens such as gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, mycobacteria, fungi, viruses and some protozoa. The active ingredient povidone-iodine does not burn the wound, which makes the ointment particularly suitable for treating small children. The brown color of the ointment is characteristic and indicates its effectiveness.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
Betaisodona ointment contains 100 mg povidone-iodine and 10 mg iodine per gram. The following excipients are also included: Macrogol 1000, Macrogol 1500, Macrogol 400, Macrogol 4000, sodium bicarbonate and purified water.
Areas of application
Betaisodona ointment is used for antiseptic wound treatment on damaged skin. This includes pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, superficial wounds and burns, and infected and superinfected skin conditions. The ointment is suitable for children from the age of 6 months and adults. For babies under six months of age, use should be discussed with a doctor.
Mode of action
The povidone-iodine complex contained in the ointment releases iodine upon contact with the skin, which has an immediate and long-lasting effect against pathogens. The brown color of the ointment indicates its effectiveness. If the color fades, this may indicate a diminishing effect.
Application and dosage
Apply Betaisodona ointment to the affected skin area one to several times a day.If necessary, a bandage can be applied. The duration of application depends on the healing process. The ointment is water-soluble and can be easily washed off with warm water and soap.No prescription is required for this product.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to povidone-iodine, hyperthyroidism or other thyroid diseases, dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring, before, during and after use of radio-iodine and in newborns and infants under one year of age.
Patient information
If you have thyroid disease or goiter, the ointment should only be used as directed by a doctor and not on large areas or over a long period of time.Elderly people and newborns should only use the ointment under medical supervision.During pregnancy and breastfeeding, use is only permitted after consulting a doctor.
Pregnancy
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the ointment should only be used on the express instructions of the doctor and in an extremely limited manner. In this case, a check of the child's thyroid function is necessary.Ingestion of the ointment by the infant through the mouth must be avoided.
Notes
Keep medicines out of the reach of children. When the brown color of the ointment subsides, the area of skin to be treated should be coated again with fresh ointment. After use in infants and small children, thyroid function should be checked by a doctor.
Other
The ointment is fat-free and washable. It can generally be removed from textiles and other materials with warm water and soap.In stubborn cases, ammonia or fixing salt can help.
