ASS-ratiopharm® 300 mg tablets

ASS-ratiopharm® 300 mg is a painkiller, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory drug that is one of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/analgesics.It is used for mild to moderate pain, such as headaches or period pain, as well as fever.No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid has pain-relieving, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties.The mechanism of action is based on the irreversible inhibition of cyclooxygenase, an enzyme involved in the formation of prostaglandins.Prostaglandins are the body's own messenger substances that mediate pain and inflammatory reactions.Through the same effect, acetylsalicylic acid also inhibits platelet aggregation and thus improves the flow properties of the blood.

One tablet ASS-ratiopharm® 300 mg contains 300 mg of acetylsalicylic acid as an active ingredient.Other ingredients include corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose powder.

Contraindications

ASS-ratiopharm® 300 mg should not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients, acute stomach and intestinal ulcers, pathologically increased bleeding tendency, liver and kidney failure, severe, uncontrolled heart muscle weakness, allergic reactions and asthma attacks when taking salicylates or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and in combination with methotrexate 15 mg or more per week.

Particular caution and medical supervision of the use of the drug is required in the event of hypersensitivity to other anti-inflammatory drugs/anti-rheumatic drugs or other allergenic substances, existing allergies, asthma, hay fever, nasal mucous membrane swelling, chronic respiratory diseases, simultaneous therapy with anticoagulants, stomach or intestinal ulcers or stomach or intestinal bleeding in the past, oxalate urolithiasis, iron storage diseases, impaired liver and kidney function, patients withCerebral hemorrhages, patients with gout and before operations.

The use of ASS-ratiopharm® 300 mg during pregnancy and breastfeeding is contraindicated.Medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid may only be used in children and adolescents with febrile illnesses on medical advice and only if other measures do not work.

Dosage

Please take ASS-ratiopharm® 300 mg with plenty of liquid (e.g. a glass of water) and not on an empty stomach.Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the following dosage is recommended: Children aged 7-9 years can take 1 tablet 3 times a day.Children aged 9-12 years can take 1-1 ½ tablets 3 times a day.Adults and children aged 12 and over can take 2-3 tablets 3 times a day.The single dose can be taken at intervals of 4-8 hours up to 3 times a day if necessary.Do not take this medicine for more than 4 days without medical or dental advice.

Intake

Please take the tablets with plenty of liquid (e.g. a glass of water).Do not take on an empty stomach.

If you take painkillers long-term, headaches can occur, which can lead to repeated use and thus a continuation of the headache.Habitual use of painkillers can lead to permanent kidney damage with the risk of kidney failure (analgesic nephropathy).This risk is particularly high if you take several different painkillers in combination.In low doses, acetylsalicylic acid reduces uric acid excretion.In patients who already tend to excrete less uric acid, this can potentially trigger a gout attack.

The medicine belongs to a group of medicines (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) that can affect women's fertility.This effect is reversible (reversible) once the drug is discontinued. Children The medicine should only be used in children and adolescents with febrile illnesses on medical advice and only if other measures do not work.If these illnesses cause prolonged vomiting, it may be a sign of Reye's syndrome, a very rare but life-threatening disease that requires immediate medical attention.

Driving and using machines No special precautions are required.Store drug out of reach of children.

Pregnancy

You should not take the medicine in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy.Therefore, be sure to consult your doctor before taking it.In the last three months of pregnancy, you should not take acetylsalicylic acid, the active ingredient of the drug, due to an increased risk of complications for the mother and child before and during birth.

The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid and its breakdown products pass into breast milk in small quantities.Since adverse consequences for the infant have not yet been reported, interruption of breastfeeding is not necessary if the recommended dose is used occasionally.However, if you use it for a long time or take high doses, you should stop breastfeeding.
