Alepafort® is used as a supportive treatment for chronic inflammatory liver diseases, liver cirrhosis and toxic liver damage.These can be caused by liver toxins.The medicine is not intended for the treatment of acute poisoning.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each hard capsule contains 177.4 to 240.4 mg of milk thistle fruit dry extract, with the extract standardized to 108.2 mg of silymarin.Acetone 95% (V/V) is used as an extractant.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (vegetable), gelatin, purified water, sodium dodecyl sulfate, titanium dioxide and black iron (III) oxide hydrate.

Dosage

The following information applies unless your doctor has prescribed the medicine differently.Please stick to the dosage instructions, otherwise the medicine will not work properly.Adults take one hard capsule three times daily.It is not intended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.The treating doctor decides on the duration of use.If the symptoms persist despite taking the medication, you should consult your doctor.

If you take a much larger amount of the medicine than you should, the side effects listed below may increase.If you suspect an overdose, please contact your doctor.This can decide on any necessary measures.No symptoms of poisoning have been observed so far.If you forget to take Alepafort®, do not take twice as much next time, but continue using it as described in the dosage instructions.

Intake

Please take one hard capsule whole with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water (200 ml), in the morning, at lunchtime and in the evening before meals.The medicine should not be taken while lying down.

Contraindications

You must not take the medicine if you are hypersensitive to milk thistle fruits and/or other composite plants or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.You must also not use the medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding.Use in women of childbearing potential who are not using contraception is not recommended unless pregnancy is excluded.

Patient information

Take special care when taking the medicine if you suffer from jaundice.In this case you need to see a doctor.Treatment with the drug only makes sense if you avoid the causes that damage the liver, such as alcohol.Children and adolescents under the age of 18 should not take the medicine, as there is a lack of data on safety and effectiveness for this patient group.There are no known impairments to the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

Before taking any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.You must not use the medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding.Use in women of childbearing potential who are not using contraception is not recommended unless pregnancy is excluded.

Notes

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
