Instructions for use for Paracetamol BC 500 mg tablets, 10 pcs
Area of application
This medicine is a pain reliever and antipyretic agent used for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever. It acts as an analgesic and antipyretic.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The main active ingredient is paracetamol with a dosage of 500 mg per tablet. In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: carboxymethyl starch, sodium salt type A, cellulose powder, corn starch, pre-gelatinized corn starch, highly disperse silicon dioxide, stearic acid and a total of 23 mg sodium ions.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients. No prescription is required for this product.
Dosage
The tablets should always be taken exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The dosage depends on the patient's body weight and age.As a rule, the single dose is 10 to 15 mg of paracetamol per kilogram of body weight, but not more than 60 mg/kg of body weight or 8 tablets per day (equivalent to 4000 mg of paracetamol).
For children between 4 and 8 years old (17 to 25 kg body weight), the single dose is 250 mg paracetamol (½ tablet), with a maximum daily dose of 1000 mg paracetamol (2 tablets).Children between 8 and 11 years of age (26 to 32 kg body weight) also receive 250 mg of paracetamol per single dose, but in exceptional cases the daily dose can be increased to 1500 mg.Children between 11 and 12 years of age (33 to 42 kg body weight) receive 500 mg paracetamol (1 tablet) per single dose, with a maximum daily dose of 2000 mg paracetamol (4 tablets).
Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over (from 43 kg body weight) can take 500 to 1000 mg paracetamol (1 to 2 tablets) per single dose, with a maximum daily dose of 4000 mg paracetamol (8 tablets).
In case of liver or kidney dysfunction, the dose should be reduced or the interval between doses increased.Elderly patients usually do not require any special dosage adjustment, although a dose reduction may be necessary if liver or kidney function is impaired.Children under 4 years of age or with a body weight of less than 17 kg should not take the product.
An overdose may cause nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, paleness, abdominal pain and severe liver damage. In this case, a doctor should be contacted immediately. If a dose is missed, do not take a double dose.
Intake
The tablets are swallowed whole with sufficient liquid, such as a glass of water. They can be divided into equal doses if necessary.
Patient information
It should be ensured that no other medicines containing paracetamol are taken at the same time to avoid the risk of overdose. Before taking, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted if there is liver or kidney dysfunction, chronic alcoholism, dehydration or a body weight less than 50 kg.The tablets should not be taken for longer than 3 days without medical advice.
Prolonged use of high doses of painkillers can lead to headaches, which should not be treated with increased doses.Habitual use of painkillers can cause permanent kidney damage. If stopped abruptly after prolonged use, headaches, fatigue, muscle pain, nervousness and vegetative symptoms may occur.
Paracetamol has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines. However, caution should always be exercised after taking painkillers.
Pregnancy
During pregnancy, paracetamol should only be taken after carefully weighing the benefit-risk ratio. It should be taken for the shortest possible period of time and in the lowest possible dose.Paracetamol passes into breast milk, but no adverse effects on the infant have been reported so far, so interrupting breastfeeding is usually not necessary.
