Directions for use - Solutio hydroxyquinoline sulphate solution 0.4%. This medicinal product is an antiseptic and is used for germicidal application to the skin. It contains the active substance quinolin-8-ol sulphate (2:1). It is important to read the leaflet carefully because it contains important information. If necessary, the leaflet can be read again later. If you have any questions or need further information, the pharmacist can be consulted. If the condition worsens or does not improve, a doctor should be consulted. The medicine must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to quinolin-8-ol sulphate or other quinolines. It should also not be used during pregnancy and lactation, as the active substance is classified as mutagenic and teratogenic effects cannot be ruled out. Caution is advised as the solution may cause damage to some materials, especially if they contain traces of heavy metals. The solution should not come into contact with metallic objects. There are incompatibilities with zinc oxide and sulphonated shale oils, so the solution should not be used with these substances. The solution is used undiluted two to three times a day. It can be used for partial body washes, rinses and poultices. The duration of use should be limited to 14 days without a doctor's order. In case of accidental ingestion of the solution, no intoxications are to be expected at this concentration. Possible side effects may include irritant contact reactions. The expiry date of the pack is printed and the medicinal product should not be used after this date. After opening the container, the solution can be used for 4 weeks. The medicinal product should be kept out of reach of children. The composition of the solution contains 0.40 g quinoline-8-ol sulphate (2:1) and purified water.
