Instructions for use for GAVISCON® Dual Suspension with dual action against heartburn, 24X10 ml
GAVISCON® Dual Suspension with dual action against heartburn
GAVISCON® Dual Suspension with dual action against heartburn is a stomach gel that relieves heartburn, acid belching and other reflux-related complaints thanks to its special combination of active ingredients. The main active ingredient alginate, obtained from brown algae, together with potassium hydrogen carbonate and calcium forms a gel-like protective barrier on the stomach contents. This barrier prevents stomach acid from rising into the esophagus and thus counteracts heartburn and acid belching. In addition, the calcium carbonate it contains neutralizes stomach acid, meaning the product has a dual effect against heartburn.
No prescription is required for this product. The main active ingredient, alginate, is not absorbed into the bloodstream, so GAVISCON® Dual Suspension can also be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The product is available in a 300 ml bottle or in pre-dosed 10 ml sachets. The gel does not require any water to be taken, which makes the sachets in particular a practical solution for on the go and when traveling.
Area of application
GAVISCON® Dual Suspension with dual action against heartburn is used to treat acid-related symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux. These include heartburn, acid reflux, and indigestion that may occur after meals or during pregnancy.
Mode of action
In contrast to other heartburn medications, GAVISCON® Dual Suspension has a dual effect. The ingredient alginate forms a protective film on the stomach contents and prevents the acidic food from rising into the esophagus. At the same time, stomach acid is neutralized by calcium carbonate. This can relieve pain and other unpleasant symptoms such as stomach pressure, acid reflux and feeling of fullness for up to four hours.

Triggers and contributing factors for heartburn
Factors that can cause heartburn include excessive food intake, being overweight and certain habits such as smoking.Pregnancy can also cause reflux symptoms due to the increased pressure on the stomach.
Possible preventive measures
To reduce the risk of heartburn, eating smaller portions, elevating your head while sleeping, and stopping smoking can help. If symptoms persist or worsen, medical advice should be sought.
