Lösnesium is a mineral preparation with the active substance magnesium. It is used in cases of proven magnesium deficiency when this is the cause of muscle activity disorders such as neuromuscular disorders and calf cramps. It must not be taken in the case of an allergy to magnesium or other components of the medicinal product, in the case of kidney function disorders, slow heartbeat due to excitation conduction disorders of the heart, myasthenia gravis, severe water loss, metabolic alkalosis, chronic urinary tract infections with urea-cleaving bacteria and certain urinary stone diseases. There is also the possibility of a contraindication due to excess magnesium or excess potassium in the body. Pregnant and breastfeeding women can take it without hesitation. The dosage varies according to age and the severity of the magnesium deficiency. The form of application is a sachet of effervescent granules which is dissolved in water and drunk. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the magnesium deficiency and should be discussed with the doctor. Possible side effects are soft stools, gastrointestinal complaints, diarrhoea and fatigue. Lösnesium is available in packs of 20, 50 or 500 sachets. It must not be used beyond the expiry date and should be kept out of the reach of children. A doctor or pharmacist should be consulted if there are any questions or side effects.
