Zyrtec film-coated tablets are an anti-allergy medicine used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms in seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and to relieve hives (urticaria). The medicine contains the active substance cetirizine dihydrochloride. It is suitable for children aged 6 years and over and adults. The recommended dosage for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 10 mg once a day. For children between 6 and 12 years of age, the recommended dosage is 5 mg twice daily. Patients with kidney weakness may need to take a lower dose. The medicine should be taken unchewed with a glass of liquid. Side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and tiredness. The medicine should not be taken in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, tendency to seizures and impaired kidney function.
