Blockages in blood vessels can lead to insufficient blood flow to the heart and brain, increasing the risk of a heart attack or stroke.HerzASS-ratiopharm 100 mg is used as part of standard therapy to prevent heart attacks and strokes.The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid, also known as a blood thinner, prevents blood platelets from clumping together and thus prevents the formation of blood clots.This is particularly important if there is an increased risk of vascular blockages or after surgery on the vessels in order to minimize complications.

Area of application

HerzASS-ratiopharm 100 mg is taken daily after meals, without chewing and with sufficient fluid.The tablets can be easily divided thanks to the cross-cut notch, which makes swallowing easier.In the event of an acute heart attack, the first tablet should be bitten or chewed.It should be taken according to the package leaflet or doctor’s instructions.The tablets are lactose-free and intended for long-term use.

One tablet of HerzASS-ratiopharm 100 mg contains 100 mg of acetylsalicylic acid as the active ingredient.Other ingredients include corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose powder.

Contraindications

HerzASS-ratiopharm 100 mg should not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients, acute stomach and intestinal ulcers, pathologically increased bleeding tendency, liver and kidney failure, severe, uncontrolled heart muscle weakness, allergic reactions and asthma attacks when taking salicylates or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and in combination with methotrexate 15 mg or more per week.

Particular caution and medical supervision are required in the event of hypersensitivity to other anti-inflammatory or allergenic substances, existing allergies, asthma, hay fever, chronic respiratory diseases, simultaneous therapy with anticoagulants, stomach or intestinal ulcers or bleeding in the past, oxalate urolithiasis, iron storage diseases, impaired liver and kidney function, patients with cerebral hemorrhages, patients with gout and before operations.

The use of HerzASS-ratiopharm 100 mg is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as in children under 12 years of age and in children and adolescents with feverish symptoms of the disease.

Dosage

HerzASS-ratiopharm 100 mg should be taken exactly according to a doctor's instructions.The recommended dosages are: one tablet daily for unstable angina pectoris, one tablet daily for acute heart attack (the first tablet is bitten), three tablets daily to prevent another heart attack, one tablet daily after operations or other interventions on arterial blood vessels and one tablet daily to prevent temporary insufficient blood flow in the brain (TIA) and cerebral infarctions after precursor stages have occurred.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, medications should only be taken after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist.Acetylsalicylic acid should not be taken during the first six months of pregnancy.It is not allowed to be taken in the last three months as it can prolong the pregnancy and inhibit labor.An increased tendency to bleed can be observed in mother and child.Taking acetylsalicylic acid shortly before birth can cause cerebral hemorrhage, especially in premature babies.

Acetylsalicylic acid passes into breast milk in small amounts.With short-term use of the recommended dose, interruption of breastfeeding is usually not necessary.If you use it for a long time or take larger quantities, you should stop breastfeeding.

HerzASS-ratiopharm 100 mg is not used to treat pain.Do not take the tablets on an empty stomach.No prescription is required for this product.

Other

HerzASS-ratiopharm 100 mg is not suitable for treating pain.The doctor or dentist should be informed before operations.Dizziness and ringing in the ears can be signs of an overdose, especially in children and elderly patients.In these cases, a doctor should be notified.If the recommended dosage is exceeded, liver values can increase, which is why regular monitoring of liver values is necessary, especially in children.HerzASS-ratiopharm 100 mg can trigger a gout attack if uric acid levels are elevated.In children and adolescents with febrile illnesses, the medication should only be used on medical advice.
