Directions for use of the article Megalac Almasilate Suspension: Megalac Almasilate is a medicine that binds excess stomach acid. It is used for the symptomatic treatment of stomach ulcers, duodenal ulcers, acid-related stomach complaints and heartburn. Before taking Megalac Almasilate, there are a few things that should be kept in mind. It should not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to almasilate or the other ingredients, or if there is a phosphate deficiency. The medicine should not normally be used in children under 12 years of age. In the case of prolonged or regularly recurring symptoms, medical consultation is required. No other medicinal products should be taken/used without first consulting a doctor or pharmacist. The absorption and effectiveness of other medicines may be reduced by Megalac Almasilate. It should be taken 1-2 hours before or after taking Megalac Almasilate. The recommended dosage for adolescents 12 years and older and adults is 1 sachet 1-4 times daily, 1-2 hours after a meal and before bedtime. No specific symptoms are known in case of overdose. Possible side effects include discomfort in the gastrointestinal tract such as mushy stools, constipation, flatulence and bloating, and rarely hypersensitivity reactions. In the case of impaired kidney function, the intake of Megalac Almasilate may lead to increased magnesium levels in the blood and an increase in aluminium levels. Megalac Almasilate should not be stored in frosty conditions and should be kept out of the reach of children. The pack contains one bottle of 250 ml suspension or 20/50 sachets of 10 ml suspension.
