Active ingredients and ingredients
The effervescent tablet contains 2500 mg calcium carbonate, which corresponds to 1000 mg calcium ions.It also contains 0.022 mg colecalciferol, i.e. 880 IE vitamin D3.The excipients include alpha-tocopherol, citric acid (anhydrous), gelatin, lactose 1-water, macrogol 6000, corn starch, sodium cyclamate, sodium bicarbonate, povidone K25, saccharin (sodium salt), sucrose, Simeticon emulsion, Dimeticon, silicon dioxide (highly disperse), methylcellulose, soybean oil (hardened), 97 mg total sodium ions andContains orange flavor.
Contraindications
This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, colecalciferol or any of the other ingredients. It is also contraindicated if there is an increased calcium content in the blood (hypercalcemia), increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalciuria), overactive parathyroid gland (hyperparathyroidism) or vitamin D overdose. The same applies to certain tumors such as lung cancer, breast cancer, kidney cancer, certain forms of blood cancer, multiple bone marrow tumors and secondary tumors in the bone. The medicine should also not be taken if you have lung diseases such as sarcoidosis or Boeck's disease or if limbs are immobilized.
No prescription is required for this product.
Dosage
Always take the medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The recommended dose is one effervescent tablet once daily. The duration of treatment is determined individually by your doctor and should generally be long-term.
If you take more than you should, you may experience increased calcium excretion in your urine and increased calcium levels in your blood, which may cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, thirst, increased urination or constipation. If you suspect an overdose, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.A chronic overdose can lead to vascular and organ calcification.
If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose.Do not stop taking it as this may affect the success of the treatment.
If you have any further questions about taking it, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Intake
Dissolve the effervescent tablet in a glass of drinking water (200 ml) and drink the contents completely. The medicine can be taken with food or between meals.
Patient information
Particular caution is required in the case of impaired kidney function, kidney limestones, kidney calcification or reduced phosphate concentration in the blood.During long-term treatment, blood calcium levels and kidney values should be monitored regularly.Drinking plenty of fluids can reduce the tendency to form kidney stones.Since the medicine already contains vitamin D, additional vitamin D or calcium should only be taken under medical supervision. The intake of calcium and alkalis from other sources should be considered to avoid milk-alkaline syndrome.
There are no relevant data on use in children and adolescents, therefore no dosage recommendation can be made. The ability to drive and use machines is not affected.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Due to the high dosage of vitamin D, the medicine should not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding. An overdose can lead to developmental delays and other health problems in the child.
Before taking any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Notes
For information about risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacy.
Other
During long-term treatment, blood and urine calcium levels should be monitored regularly and renal function should be checked by measuring serum creatinine. If calcium is too high or there are signs of reduced kidney function, the dose must be reduced or treatment interrupted. If the kidneys are weak, the effect on the calcium and phosphate balance should be monitored. If there is a family history of kidney stones containing calcium, an increased calcium concentration in the urine should be ruled out.
Fish liver oil and certain types of fish such as herring, eel and salmon are particularly rich in vitamin D.Small amounts are found in mushrooms, egg yolks, margarine, cheese and avocado.
