Area of application

This mineral supplement contains calcium and vitamin D3.It is used to compensate for a simultaneous deficiency of calcium and vitamin D in the elderly.It also supports the treatment of osteoporosis in patients who have a proven or high risk of such a deficiency.

The effervescent tablets contain 2500 mg calcium carbonate, which corresponds to 1000 mg calcium ions.Additionally it contains 0.022 mg colecalciferol (880 IE vitamin D3).The excipients include alpha-tocopherol, anhydrous citric acid, gelatin, lactose-1-water, macrogol 6000, corn starch, sodium cyclamate, sodium bicarbonate, povidone K25, saccharin sodium, sucrose, simeticone emulsion, dimeticone, highly disperse silicon dioxide, methyl cellulose, hydrogenated soybean oil, 97 mg sodium ions andContains orange flavor.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, colecalciferol or any of the other ingredients.It is also contraindicated if there is an increased calcium content in the blood (hypercalcemia), increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalciuria), overactive parathyroid gland (hyperparathyroidism) or vitamin D overdose.It must also not be used in certain tumors such as lung cancer, breast cancer, kidney cancer, certain types of blood cancer, multiple bone marrow tumors and bone metastases, as well as in lung diseases such as sarcoidosis or Boeck's disease.Even if you are immobilized, you are not allowed to take it.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose is one effervescent tablet once daily.The duration of treatment is determined individually by your doctor and should generally be long-term.

An overdose may result in increased calcium excretion in the urine and increased calcium concentrations in the blood, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, thirst, increased sensation of thirst, increased urination or constipation.If you suspect an overdose, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.

Do not take a double dose if you forget to take a dose.

Stopping the intake can jeopardize the success of the treatment.

Intake

Dissolve the effervescent tablet in a glass of drinking water (200 ml) and drink the contents completely.It can be taken with food or between meals.

Patient information

Particular caution is required in the case of impaired kidney function, kidney limestones, kidney calcification or reduced phosphate concentration in the blood.During long-term treatment, blood calcium levels and kidney values should be monitored.If the calcium level is too high or kidney function is impaired, the dose should be reduced or therapy discontinued.

Taking it increases calcium excretion in the urine, which can increase the tendency to form kidney and bladder stones.This can be avoided by drinking plenty of fluids.

Since the medicine already contains vitamin D, additional vitamin D or calcium should only be taken under medical supervision.Calcium and alkaline intake from other sources should also be taken into account.

There is no relevant benefit for children and adolescents in the indication and the safety and effectiveness have not been proven.

No special precautions are required when driving or using machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

The medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to the high dosage of vitamin D.

An overdose should be avoided during pregnancy, as a long-term elevated calcium level in the blood can lead to developmental delays, certain forms of aortic narrowing and retinal diseases in the child.

In animal studies, an overdose of vitamin D during pregnancy led to birth defects.However, there is no evidence that vitamin D is teratogenic in humans at therapeutic doses.

Calcium, vitamin D and its metabolic products pass into breast milk.The medicine should not be taken during breastfeeding because of the high dosage of vitamin D.
