What is Mucofalk Orange Granules (sachet)?

Mucofalk Orange is a herbal swelling agent for stool regulation that is obtained from ground Indian psyllium husks.It is available in practical sachets with granules to stir in and has a pleasant orange taste.The medicine is well tolerated and is suitable for the gentle treatment of intestinal problems.

Mucofalk Orange bags are used to support long-term and chronic constipation, diseases that require easier defecation, such as hemorrhoids and anal fissures, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome with a tendency to constipation, diseases with an increased need for fiber and problems with defecation after surgical procedures in the rectal area.

The medicine is considered to be generally well tolerated.Known side effects have so far only occurred in exceptional cases.

How do Mucofalk Orange bags work?

The granules in the Mucofalk Orange bags are based on the active ingredients of Indian psyllium.The seeds and seed coats of the medicinal plant contain numerous mucilages that have a laxative effect and can help relieve constipation.

The mucilage in the psyllium husks swell in liquid and reach 40 times their previous volume.This increases the volume of the intestinal contents and makes the stool more slippery.The intestinal wall is stretched and intestinal movement is stimulated, allowing intestinal contents to pass more easily.

In addition, the psyllium husks can solidify the stool by binding excess water in the intestines.This means that Mucofalk Orange Granules can also help relieve diarrhea.

Intake and dosage

Mucofalk Orange bags are suitable for use on adults and children aged 12 and over.It should be taken according to the instructions in the package leaflet or according to the advice of a doctor or pharmacist.

For the treatment of chronic constipation and diseases that require easier bowel movements with loose intestinal contents, the following dosage recommendations apply: Take the contents of one sachet of Mucofalk Orange 2 to 3 times a day, after stirring it into at least 150 ml of liquid.

For supportive treatment of irritable bowel syndrome and diarrhea: Take the contents of one sachet of Mucofalk Orange 2 to 6 times a day, after stirring it into at least 150 ml of liquid.

This is how you mix Mucofalk Orange Granules correctly

The medicine should always be taken with plenty of liquid to avoid blocking the throat, airways and esophagus.Do not take the product before going to bed or while lying down.There should be an interval of ½ to 1 hour between taking other medications.

Simply pour the contents of a bag of Mucofalk Orange Granules into a glass, slowly fill the glass with at least 150 ml of water, juice or similar, stir the contents quickly until lumps form, drink the solution immediately and then drink another glass with liquid.

How quickly does Mucofalk Orange Granules work?

Mucofalk Orange Granules usually take effect after just 12 to 24 hours.If your constipation is not relieved within 3 days or your diarrhea does not subside after 2 days, please see a doctor.This applies even if you suspect that the effect of the medicine is too strong or weak.

When you should not use Mucofalk Orange sachets

You must not take Mucofalk Orange Granules if you are allergic to psyllium or any of the other ingredients and excipients.The medicine must also not be used if you are affected by diseases such as intestinal obstruction, intestinal paralysis or diseases of the esophagus.

Note

Mucofalk Orange bags are gluten-free and lactose-free.Treatment of debilitated or elderly patients should be appropriately monitored.

Note for patients with diabetes: A single dose of Mucofalk Orange (5 g) contains 0.5 g sucrose (sugar) and 3.07 kcal (12.86 kJ) and is equivalent to 0.064 bread units.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

Ingredients

Active ingredient per 1 bag: Indian psyllium husks, ground, 3.25 g.Other ingredients: Sucrose (saccharose) 500mg, citric acid, dextrin (from corn or potatoes), sodium alginate, sodium citrate (Ph.Eur.), orange flavor, sodium chloride, saccharin sodium 90mg.

Mode of action

The effective principle of the Mucofalk Orange bag is based on the high proportion of Indian psyllium seed shells.This material, which is naturally rich in swelling substances and fiber, can bind many times its own weight in liquid.This makes the stool more voluminous and soft, and the intestines experience a stretching stimulus that promotes motility.In addition, the softening of the stool makes it easier to excrete.Mucofalk Orange Bag has a natural regulating effect on constipation and diarrhea.

Psyllium husks also have the potential to bind dietary cholesterol and bile acids in the intestine that are excreted via the entero-hepatic circulation.Both lead to a natural and gentle reduction in total and LDL-cholesterol in the blood.

Contraindications

Dosage

For chronic constipation, adults and adolescents aged 12 and over take one sachet 2-3 times a day after stirring it into plenty of liquid (at least 150 ml).

When used as a supportive therapy for diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome, adults and adolescents aged 12 and over take one sachet 2-6 times a day after stirring it into plenty of liquid (at least 150 ml).

Add at least 150 ml of cold water to the recommended dosage, stir the granules with a spoon without forming lumps, drink it immediately, do not take it lying down or immediately before going to bed and drink another glass of liquid.

Intake

Please never take the preparation dry, otherwise you may have difficulty swallowing.Dissolve the preparation in cold water (1 sachet for at least 150 ml of water).Avoid forming lumps when loosening.Drink the prepared liquid immediately, then drink another glass of liquid.Do not take it lying down or immediately before going to bed.

If you are taking thyroid hormones at the same time, this medicine may only be taken after consulting your doctor, as the dose of thyroid hormones may need to be adjusted.
