Glycilax® for children

Glycilax® with the active ingredient glycerol is a mild preparation for laxatives in cases of constipation and painful defecation.It works by softening the intestinal contents and increasing the lubricity of the stool, thereby stimulating bowel movements and making emptying easier.Because of this gentle mode of action, Glycilax® is also suitable for infants and children.The product is available in the form of suppositories suitable for both children and adults.No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

Glycilax® for children contains the active ingredient glycerol, which softens the intestinal contents and increases the slipperiness of the stool.This stimulates bowel movements and makes emptying easier.This mild preparation is particularly suitable for infants and small children.

The ingredients of Glycilax® for children include 0.75 g glycerol 85%, cetomacrogol 1000 as an excipient, hard fat as an excipient, light basic magnesium carbonate as an excipient and bleached wax as an excipient.

Area of application

Glycilax® for children is used for constipation and painful defecation.It is especially suitable for infants and toddlers.

Dosage

If necessary, 1-2 suppositories can be inserted.If constipation is persistent or persists for a long time, it is advisable to see a doctor who will then decide on further treatment.If necessary, the suppositories should be wrapped and briefly held under cold water before use.Insert the suppository with the tapered end as deeply as possible into the anus and leave it to work for at least 1 hour.

Intake

Glycilax® for children is used rectally.If necessary, 1 suppository (corresponding to 0.75 g glycerol 85%) is inserted into the anus for infants.In children, 1-2 suppositories (corresponding to 0.75-1.5 g glycerol 85%) are inserted into the anus.For stubborn blockages, another suppository can be inserted.The suppositories should be kept cool or, if necessary, briefly held in the foil under cold water before use.

Patient information

Particular caution is required in the case of unclear abdominal pain, for example if appendicitis is suspected.In such cases, medical advice should be sought.Constipation can be the result of poor diet or lifestyle habits, such as too little exercise, lack of fluid intake, or a diet low in fiber.Constipation should only be treated with medication if dietary measures or lifestyle changes have not brought sufficient success.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, medications should only be used after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist.
