Instructions for use for Cromo-ratiopharm® eye drops, 10 ml

Cromo-ratiopharm® eye drops

Cromo-ratiopharm® eye drops contain the active ingredient sodium cromoglicate, which is used to prevent and treat allergic diseases. The active ingredient stabilizes the so-called mast cells, from which the allergy-causing substance histamine is released. This weakens allergic reactions. No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

The preparation is used for conjunctivitis caused by allergies. It is suitable for acute and chronic conjunctivitis, such as can occur with hay fever or spring catarrh.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The eye drops contain 20 mg of cromoglicic acid, disodium salt per milliliter.Other ingredients include disodium edetate 2 water, sodium hydroxide, sorbitol, water for injections and benzalkonium chloride.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if there is proven hypersensitivity to sodium cromoglicate or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

Always use the product as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual dosage is one drop into the conjunctival sac of both eyes four times a day.If necessary, the daily dose can be increased by increasing the frequency of application to one drop up to eight times a day.Dosing intervals can be extended after therapeutic effect is achieved as long as freedom from symptoms is maintained.

You should continue the treatment even after the symptoms have subsided for as long as you are exposed to the allergenic substances. In the event of prolonged use, the need for treatment should be determined by a doctor.

If you have used more than you should, there are no known specific overdose reactions. If you forget an application, simply continue therapy at the same dosage at the next scheduled time.

If possible, treatment should be carried out regularly for as long as you are exposed to the allergy-causing substances.Stopping the medication may cause symptoms to reappear.

Application

The eye drops are intended for use on the eyes.Tilt your head back slightly, pull the lower eyelid down with the index finger of one hand and hold the bottle vertically over the eye without touching it.Drip a drop into the pulled-down conjunctival sac and try to keep the eye open and move it so that the drop is well distributed.

Patient information

After instillation, visual acuity may worsen for a few minutes. Please avoid operating machines, working without a secure footing and participating in road traffic during this time.

If you have inflammation, including allergic conjunctivitis, you should ask your ophthalmologist whether you can continue to wear contact lenses despite the symptoms. If your ophthalmologist allows you to wear contact lenses, they must be removed before use and not reinserted until at least 15 minutes after use.

Pregnancy

Before using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice. There is currently no evidence of a teratogenic effect in humans, but the existing experience is not sufficient to make a final assessment of the risk. The active ingredient is excreted in small amounts into breast milk. For safety reasons, the preparation should not be used in the first trimester of pregnancy or should only be used after careful benefit-risk assessment.Even during the further course of pregnancy and during breastfeeding, the preparation may only be used after a careful risk-benefit assessment by the treating doctor.

Notes

The treatment effect must be checked regularly by the doctor. Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
