Active ingredients and ingredients

1 g of Voltaren pain gel 11.6 mg/g gel with diclofenac contains the following active ingredients and excipients:

Active ingredient: Diclofenac-N-ethylethanamine 11.6 mg in 1 g gel (corresponding to 10 mg diclofenac sodium).

Other ingredients: Purified water, 2-propanol, propylene glycol, cocoyl caprylocaprate (Ph.Eur.), paraffin, cetomacrogol, carbomer 974 P, N-ethylethanamine, perfume cream (contains benzyl benzoate).

Contraindications

Voltaren pain gel should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients or if you are hypersensitive to other medicines used to treat pain, fever or inflammation, such as ibuprofen or acetylsalicylic acid.Patients sensitive to acetylsalicylic acid and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) should not use the product.The gel must not be used on open injuries, inflammations or infections of the skin, as well as on eczema or mucous membranes.Its use is also not permitted during pregnancy and in children and adolescents under 14 years of age.

Dosage

Apply Voltaren pain gel three to four times a day, depending on the intensity of the pain.Depending on the size of the painful area to be treated, an amount the size of a cherry to a walnut is required.Wash your hands afterwards.Before covering the area with clothing, the gel should dry on the skin for a few minutes.The gel can be used for a period of up to three weeks, depending on the underlying disease.If the symptoms have not improved after three to five days or have even worsened, it is advisable to see a doctor.

Application

Apply the gel thinly to the affected area of the body and rub it in lightly.Wash your hands afterwards, unless these are the area to be treated.

If the preparation is applied to a large area of the skin and used over a longer period of time, side effects may occur that affect a specific organ system or the entire organism.These side effects are comparable to those that may occur when taking other medicines containing diclofenac.You can use a bandage, but not an occlusive bandage (tight bandage).Before applying a bandage, the medicine should dry on the skin for a few minutes.

Particular caution is required when using it in acute conditions that are accompanied by severe redness, swelling or overheating of joints, in the case of persistent joint problems or in the case of severe back pain that radiates to the legs and/or is associated with neurological deficits (e.g. numbness, tingling).In these cases, a doctor should be consulted.
