Description

Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg is a medicine that contains the active ingredient pantoprazole.Pantoprazole belongs to the group of proton pump inhibitors that reduce the production of stomach acid.This medication is used for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid reflux in adults.It helps reduce acid reflux, pain and inflammation.

Mode of action

Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg works by reducing the amount of stomach acid that the stomach produces.This means less acid enters the esophagus, which stops the painful burning sensation.The effect begins after just one day of treatment, but may require taking it over several days to completely relieve symptoms.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg contains the following active ingredients and excipients:

Active ingredient: pantoprazole.One enteric-coated tablet contains 20 mg of pantoprazole (as pantoprazole sodium 1.5 H2O).

Other components:

Tablet core: calcium stearate (vegetable), microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone (type A), hyprolose, sodium carbonate, colloidal silicon dioxide.

Coating: Hypromellose, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O (E 172), macrogol 400, methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1), polysorbate 80, Ponceau 4R aluminum salt (E 124), quinoline yellow aluminum salt (E 104), sodium dodecyl sulfate, titanium dioxide (E 171), triethyl citrate.

Application and dosage

Take one tablet of Pantoprazole HEXAL® daily for heartburn, 20 mg, unchewed with plenty of water.Try to take the medication at the same time whenever possible.The tablet should be taken before a meal and should not be chewed or broken.

If your symptoms do not improve after 2 weeks or worsen, contact your doctor.Do not take the medication for more than 4 weeks without consulting your doctor.

Contraindications

Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg must not be taken if you are allergic to pantoprazole or any of the other ingredients of the drug.It should also not be taken at the same time as medicines containing atazanavir, as this is used to treat HIV-infection.The product is not suitable for young people under the age of 18 or for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor before taking the medicine if you have had treatment for heartburn or indigestion for 4 weeks or longer, if you are over 55 years of age and are treating indigestion with non-prescription medicines every day, if you are over 55 years of age and have new or recently changed reflux symptoms, if you have had a stomach ulcer or gastric operation in the past, if you have liver problems or jaundice, if you have severe or serious symptomssee your doctor regularly, or if you are scheduled to have an endoscopy or a breathing test called a 13C-urea breath test.

Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following symptoms, which could be a sign of another, more serious condition: unintentional weight loss, vomiting, especially with repeated vomiting, vomiting blood, blood in the stool, difficulty swallowing or pain when swallowing, paleness and feeling weak (anemia), chest pain, stomach pain, severe and/or persistent diarrhea.

Before a scheduled blood test, tell your doctor that you are taking this medicine.If side effects such as dizziness or blurred vision occur, you should not drive or operate machines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

You should not take this medicine if you think you may be pregnant, are pregnant or are breastfeeding.Before taking this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.

Notes

No prescription is required for this product.Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg is lactose and gluten free.The preparation contains the dye Ponceau 4R aluminum salt (E 124), which can cause allergic reactions.Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.

Stop taking it when you are completely free of symptoms.If you do not notice any improvement in symptoms after 2 weeks of continuous use, contact your doctor.Do not take the product for more than 4 weeks without consulting your doctor.
