Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg is used for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid reflux in adults.The active ingredient pantoprazole belongs to the group of proton pump inhibitors and reduces the production of stomach acid.This reduces acid reflux, pain and inflammation in the esophagus.

Mode of action

Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg works by reducing acid production in the stomach.This means less acid enters the esophagus, which stops the painful burning sensation.The effect begins after just one day of treatment, but may require taking it over several days to completely relieve symptoms.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg contains the active ingredient pantoprazole.One enteric-coated tablet contains 20 mg of pantoprazole (as pantoprazole sodium 1.5 H2O).The other components include:

Tablet core: calcium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone (type A), hyprolose, sodium carbonate, colloidal silicon dioxide.

Coating: Hypromellose, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O (E 172), macrogol 400, methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1), polysorbate 80, Ponceau 4R aluminum salt (E 124), quinoline yellow aluminum salt (E 104), sodium dodecyl sulfate, titanium dioxide (E 171), triethyl citrate.

Contraindications

Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg must not be taken if you are allergic to pantoprazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.It is also not permitted to take medicines that contain atazanavir (used to treat HIV-infection) at the same time.The product is not suitable for young people under the age of 18 or for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Dosage

Take one tablet of Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg daily without chewing with plenty of water.If possible, try to take the tablet at the same time every time.Symptoms may be relieved after just one day of treatment, but complete relief may require 2-3 days of use.If your symptoms do not improve after 2 weeks or get worse, contact your doctor.Do not take the medicine for more than 4 weeks without medical advice.

Intake

Take the tablet at the same time every day before a meal.Swallow the tablet whole with a little water.Do not bite or break the tablet.

Patient information

No prescription is required for this product.

Please talk to your doctor before taking the medicine if you have had treatment for heartburn or indigestion for 4 weeks or longer, if you are older than 55 years and treat indigestion daily with non-prescription medicines, if you are older than 55 years and have new or recently changed reflux symptoms, if you have had a stomach ulcer or gastric operation in the past, if you have liver problems or jaundice, if you have severe or serious symptomssee your doctor regularly or if you are scheduled to have an endoscopy or a breathing test called a 13C-urea breath test.

Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following symptoms, which could be a sign of another, more serious condition: unintentional weight loss, vomiting, especially with repeated vomiting, vomiting blood, blood in the stool, difficulty swallowing or pain when swallowing, paleness and weakness, chest pain, stomach pain, severe and/or persistent diarrhea.

Before a scheduled blood test, tell your doctor that you are taking this medicine.

If side effects such as dizziness or blurred vision occur, you should not drive or operate machines.

Pregnancy

You should not take this medicine if you think you may be pregnant, are pregnant or are breastfeeding.Before taking this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.

Notes

If you do not notice any improvement in symptoms after 2 weeks of continuous use of this medicine, contact your doctor.Do not take the product for more than 4 weeks without consulting your doctor.Stop taking it when you are completely free of symptoms.

Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg is lactose and gluten free.

Pantoprazole HEXAL® for heartburn 20 mg contains the dye Ponceau 4R aluminum salt (E 124), which can cause allergic reactions.
