Contraindications

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to omeprazole or any of the other ingredients.The preparation should also not be used if you are allergic to other proton pump inhibitors such as pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole or esomeprazole.It is also contraindicated to take with medicines containing nelfinavir, as this is used to treat HIV-infections.

Dosage

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as possible.If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and do not take a double dose.

Intake

It is recommended to take the capsules in the morning.You can take the capsules with food or on an empty stomach.Swallow the capsules whole with half a glass of water.Do not chew or crush the capsules as they contain coated pellets that protect the active ingredient from stomach acid.

The pellets release the active ingredient into the intestines, where it is absorbed by your body to take effect.

If you have difficulty swallowing the capsules, you can open the capsule and swallow the contents immediately with half a glass of water.Alternatively, you can pour the contents into a glass with still water, an acidic fruit juice or applesauce.Stir the mixture immediately before drinking and drink immediately.Rinse the glass carefully with half a glass of water and drink it to make sure you have taken all of the medicine.Do not use milk or carbonated water.The solid particles contain the medicine and must not be chewed or crushed.

This medicine may affect the absorption of vitamin B12, especially if taken for a long time.Look out for symptoms such as extreme fatigue, pins and needles on the skin, a sore tongue, muscle weakness, vision problems, poor memory or depression and if so, talk to your doctor.

The medicine can mask the signs of other diseases.Talk to your doctor immediately if you have symptoms such as unwanted weight loss, difficulty swallowing, abdominal pain, vomiting food or blood, black stools, persistent diarrhea, previous stomach ulcers or gastrointestinal surgery, persistent heartburn, or jaundice.

If you develop a skin rash, especially on sun-exposed areas, tell your doctor immediately as you may need to stop treatment.Don't forget to mention other adverse health effects such as joint pain.

Patients should not take omeprazole for prevention.

The medicine is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or use machines.However, side effects such as dizziness and blurred vision can occur.You should not drive or use machines if you are impaired.
