Directions for use of the article Biofanal ointment Biofanal 100,000 I.U. ointment contains the active ingredient nystatin and is used to treat Candida infections of the skin and vaginal mucosa. It is effective against yeast fungi such as Candida albicans. The ointment should be applied to the affected skin areas or in the genital area. The duration of application is usually 2-4 weeks. However, if necessary, the treatment can be prolonged. Possible side effects are rare and include rash, dermatitis, itching and burning. Yellowish discolouration of underwear may occur, which can be removed by normal washing. Biofanal ointment can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding as the active substance is hardly absorbed. The ointment should only be used in children and adolescents after consultation with a doctor. The pack contains 25 g or 50 g of ointment. For more information, see the package leaflet.
