Biofanal ointment is a medicine for the treatment of Candida infections of the skin and vaginal mucosa. The active substance nystatin specifically fights yeast fungi, especially Candida albicans. It is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and mucous membrane, such as intertrigo, paronychia and interdigital mycosis. The medicine is applied in the form of an ointment and should be used according to the package leaflet. Side effects are rare but may include rash, itching and burning. Biofanal ointment can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, it should be avoided that the ointment is used during menstruation. The ointment is applied externally and is not absorbable.
