This medicine contains the active ingredient nystatin in a dosage of 100,000 IU. It also contains the following excipients: thick paraffin, polyethylene and zinc oxide.The cream also contains methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (paraben), cetyl alcohol and propylene glycol.

Area of application

Nystatin works specifically against infections caused by Candida albicans and other fungi.It binds to the cell membranes of fungi, inhibits their growth and destroys the fungal cells.The medicine is used to treat skin infections caused by nystatin-sensitive yeasts, particularly diaper rash in the diaper area.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose is to apply the ointment to the affected skin areas 2 to 3 times a day.In severe cases, it can also be used more frequently.

When treating yeast infections, it is important to completely eliminate all sources of infection to avoid relapses.After the symptoms have subsided, use should be continued for another 8 to 10 days to ensure the success of the treatment.

If you accidentally use more than you intended, there will usually be no adverse consequences.In this case, continue use as described or as directed by your doctor.If you forget to use an application, do not use a double dose, but continue using it as directed.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to nystatin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Patient information

Due to the high osmolarity of nystatin, its use in very underweight and immature premature infants is not recommended.No special precautions are required that affect the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.In therapeutic doses, nystatin is hardly absorbed via the intact skin or mucous membranes after oral administration and does not cross the placental barrier.It is also not expected to pass into breast milk.The medicine can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Other

In the case of fungal infections, all affected areas must be treated in order to prevent new diseases from other fungal sources.Treatment must be carried out long enough to prevent relapses (at least a week, on average 2-4 weeks, longer if necessary).
