Area of application

The nystatin contained in this preparation has a targeted effect against infections caused by Candida albicans and other fungi.It binds to the cell membranes of fungi, inhibits their growth and destroys the cells.The medicine is used to treat skin infections caused by nystatin-sensitive yeasts, particularly diaper rash in the diaper area.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The preparation contains 100,000 IE nystatin per gram. The following excipients are also included: thick paraffin, polyethylene and zinc oxide.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to nystatin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose is to use the ointment 2 to 3 times daily, or more frequently in severe cases.

When treating yeast infections, all foci of infection on the skin and mucous membranes must be completely eliminated in order to avoid relapses.After the illness has subsided, use should be continued for another 8 to 10 days to ensure the success of the treatment.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.

If you accidentally use the medicine more often than intended, this will usually not have any adverse consequences.In this case, continue use as described in the dosage instructions or as prescribed by your doctor.

Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose, but continue using it as directed or as prescribed by your doctor.

Application

The medicine is intended for application to the skin.Apply the ointment to the affected area of skin.

Patient information

Due to the high osmolarity of nystatin, its use in very underweight and immature premature infants is not recommended.No special precautions are required to drive vehicles or operate machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Nystatin, the active ingredient in this medicine, is hardly absorbed in therapeutic doses after oral administration via the intact skin or mucous membranes.Nystatin does not cross the placenta and is not expected to pass into breast milk.The medicine can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Notes

No prescription is required for this product.In the case of fungal infections, all affected areas must be treated in order to prevent new diseases from other fungal sources.Treatment must be carried out long enough to prevent relapses (at least a week, on average 2-4 weeks, longer if necessary).
