Overview

Ardeycholan is a herbal medicine made from artichoke (Cynara scolymus) leaves.The bitter substances in the artichoke promote the production of gastric juice and bile acids and stimulate the gallbladder to release more bile juice into the intestines.This product is available without a prescription.

Area of application

Ardeycholan is used for digestive problems, especially for functional disorders of the biliary system.It helps in treating dyspeptic complaints.If symptoms persist or recur beyond a week, a doctor should be consulted.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each hard capsule contains 400 mg dry extract of artichoke leaves, where the extractant is water.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: chlorophyllin-copper complex, iron (III) hydroxide oxide-x-water, iron (III) oxide, gelatin, lactose-1-water, magnesium stearate, corn starch, sodium dodecyl sulfate, highly disperse silicon dioxide, talc, titanium dioxide, purified water and sodium ions.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to artichoke leaf dry extract, artichokes, other composite plants or any of the other ingredients.Its use is also contraindicated if the bile ducts are blocked, during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.In addition, the preparation must not be used in children under 12 years of age as there is a lack of sufficient testing.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over should take one hard capsule three times a day, unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor.The capsules should be taken whole with meals with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of water.The duration of use depends on the course of the symptoms and is not generally limited.

Patient information

If you have gallstones, the medicine should only be taken after consulting a doctor.Concomitant use with coumarin-type anticoagulants may reduce the effectiveness of these agents.Effects on the ability to drive and use machines are not known, but certain side effects could affect the ability to react.
