This medicine is a combination of vitamins and minerals.It is used for proven calcium and vitamin D3 deficiencies and to support the treatment of osteoporosis.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredients of this medicine are 3000 mg of calcium carbonate, 1200 mg of calcium ions and 0.02 mg of colecalciferol, which corresponds to 800 IE vitamin D3.As excipients it contains alpha-tocopherol, malic acid, anhydrous citric acid, gelatin, corn starch, maltodextrin, sodium carbonate, sodium cyclamate, sodium bicarbonate, saccharin sodium salt, sucrose, partially hydrogenated soybean oil and lemon flavor.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to calcium carbonate, colecalciferol, soy, peanut or any of the other ingredients.Also with increased calcium content in the blood, increased calcium excretion in the urine, calcium-containing kidney stones, tissue calcification of the kidneys, restricted kidney function, hyperfunction of the parathyroid gland, vitamin D overdose, multiple bone marrow tumors, secondary tumors in the bones, immobilization of limbs or certain lung diseases such as sarcoidosis or Boeck's disease.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.The usual dose for adults is one effervescent tablet once daily, corresponding to 1200 mg calcium and 800 IE vitamin D3.The duration of use is determined by the doctor.An overdose may cause nausea, vomiting, feeling thirsty, increased urination, dehydration or constipation.A permanent overdose can lead to vascular and organ calcification.If you suspect an overdose, you should contact your doctor immediately.If you forget to take a dose, take the medicine as usual the next day without doubling the dose.If you have any questions about use, please contact your doctor or pharmacy.

Intake

The effervescent tablet is dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately.It is recommended to take the medicine in the morning.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking the drug, especially during long-term treatment.Serum and urinary calcium levels and renal function should be monitored regularly.This is particularly true for older patients and during simultaneous treatment with cardiac glycosides and diuretics.The medicine may only be taken after consulting a doctor if the phosphate concentration in the blood is low.Additional intake of calcium and vitamin D should only be taken under medical supervision.If kidney function is impaired, the medicine should be used with caution.There are no data on the influence of the drug on the ability to drive, but an influence is unlikely.

Pregnancy

The medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to the high dosage of vitamin D.Overdoses of vitamin D should be avoided as they can lead to physical deformities and mental retardation in the child.Calcium passes into breast milk in small amounts without having a negative effect on the child.
