Calcimed 500 mg effervescent tablets are a mineral preparation for the prevention of calcium deficiency in cases of increased need, such as during growth, pregnancy or breastfeeding, as well as for the supportive treatment of osteoporosis. The recommended dose is 500-1000 mg calcium daily, corresponding to 1 effervescent tablet 1-2 times daily. Take with or after food, after dissolving in a glass of water. Treatment of calcium deficiency and osteoporosis should be long-term and the duration depends on the therapeutic goal. An overdose is usually without consequences, but a doctor should be contacted if symptoms occur. If a dose is forgotten, the next prescribed dose should be taken as normal. The medicine should be stored in a dry place and out of reach of children. It contains calcium carbonate as the active ingredient and other excipients. Calcium ions have an important function in the activation of biological systems and promote the remineralisation of the skeleton in the case of calcium deficiency. The medicinal product should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the ingredients or if certain underlying diseases are present.
