Calcilac effervescent tablets are a preparation that combines calcium and vitamin D3 and is used to treat calcium and vitamin D deficiencies. It is used to compensate for concomitant calcium and vitamin D deficiency in elderly people and to support specific osteoporosis treatment in patients with proven or high risk of such deficiency. Certain precautions should be observed when taking Calcilac Effervescent Tablets. It must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients or if there is too much calcium or vitamin D in the blood. Special care should be taken if you have impaired kidney function, an increased tendency to form kidney stones, sarcoidosis (an immune disease that can lead to increased vitamin D levels in the body), or if you are taking other vitamin D-containing supplements. Side effects may occur, such as increased calcium levels in the blood or increased calcium excretion in the urine, constipation, flatulence, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, itching and skin rash. In case of overdose, hypervitaminosis and hypercalcaemia may occur. Calcilac Effervescent Tablets should be taken at the recommended dose of 1 tablet daily. The tablet is dissolved in water and taken. The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children. It contains sodium and certain sugars, so people on certain diets should consult their doctor.
