Directions for use of the article Heparin-ratiopharm 180.000 Gel: Heparin-ratiopharm 180.000 Gel contains the active substance heparin sodium. It is used for the supportive treatment of superficial phlebitis when it cannot be treated by external pressure. Before use, certain points should be observed. The gel must not be used if there is an allergy to heparin or other components of the medicine. It should also not be used in the case of an acute or already known allergic reaction to heparin. When using Heparin-ratiopharm 180,000 Gel, allergic reactions to the skin may occur, such as redness and itching. In rare cases, heparin-induced thrombocytopenia may occur, in which the number of blood platelets drops. Therefore, if new symptoms appear that may indicate thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, they should be checked by the doctor. The gel is applied thinly to the affected skin area and used 2-3 times a day. The duration of treatment is usually 1-2 weeks. Possible side effects of the gel are hypersensitivity reactions of the skin and an increased tendency to bleed. However, side effects have only rarely been observed.
