Area of application

Fol Lichtenstein 5 mg tablets are used for folic acid deficiency that cannot be compensated for through diet.Folic acid is an essential vitamin that the body needs.

The tablets contain 5 mg of folic acid as the active ingredient.The following excipients are also included: cellulose powder, lactose-1-water, magnesium stearate, highly disperse silicon dioxide and talc.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to folic acid or any of the other ingredients.The increase in young red blood cells caused by folic acid can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency.Therefore, before treating megaloblastic anemia, it is important to ensure that there is no vitamin B12 deficiency.

Dosage

The usual dose is 1 to 3 tablets per day, equivalent to 5 to 15 mg of folic acid, as needed.During pregnancy the maximum daily dose should not exceed 5 mg.The duration of treatment depends on the extent of the folic acid deficiency and is determined by the doctor.During pregnancy, doses higher than 5 mg daily should be avoided.

Intake

The tablets are taken whole with meals with a little liquid.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.Even in life-threatening megaloblastic anemia, a possible vitamin B12 deficiency must be ruled out before starting therapy.There is no sufficient experience with the use of a daily dose of more than 5 mg folic acid during pregnancy, therefore the maximum daily dose of 5 mg folic acid should not be exceeded.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.There are no known risks up to a daily dose of 5 mg.Controlled studies on pregnant women with daily doses of up to 5 mg folic acid have shown no evidence of harm to the unborn child.Folic acid supplementation can reduce the risk of neural tube defects.Since the safety of a higher dosage is not guaranteed, a dosage of more than 5 mg folic acid per day must not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Fol Lichtenstein is a vitamin preparation that is used to treat folic acid deficiency states that cannot be compensated for through diet.

Fol Lichtenstein must not be taken if you are allergic to folic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The increase in young red blood cells caused by folic acid administration can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency.Because of the risk of irreversible neurological disorders, before treating anemia due to impaired red blood cell development, it must be ensured that this is not due to a vitamin B12 deficiency.The cause of megaloblastic anemia must be clarified before therapy begins.

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.The recommended dose is 1-3 Fol Lichtenstein tablets per day (corresponding to 5-15 mg folic acid), depending on your needs.The tablets are taken whole with meals with a little liquid.The duration of treatment depends on the extent of the folic acid deficiency and depends on the clinical picture and, if necessary, on the corresponding laboratory diagnostic measurements and is determined by the doctor for each patient.

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.You must not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the blister and carton.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.Storage conditions: Store in the original container to protect the contents from moisture.Store the blister in the outer carton to protect the contents from light.
