Instructions for use for Terzolin 2% cream, 15 g
Area of application
Terzolin® 2% cream is a medicine for the external treatment of fungal skin diseases.It is used for inflammatory skin changes with dandruff and itching, such as seborrheic dermatitis or seborrheic eczema, as well as for pityriasis versicolor.The active ingredient ketoconazole in a concentration of 2% has a fungicidal effect.Fungal skin diseases can have a significant impact on quality of life and will continue to spread without treatment.Terzolin® 2% cream helps with these complaints, with the first improvements usually being noticeable after about four weeks.

Terzolin® 2% cream contains the active ingredient ketoconazole.One gram of cream contains 20 milligrams of ketoconazole.The cream also contains the following other ingredients: propylene glycol, stearyl alcohol (Ph. Eur.), cetyl alcohol (Ph. Eur.), sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60, isopropyl myristate (Ph. Eur.), sodium sulfite (E221), polysorbate 80 and purified water.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to ketoconazole or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.
Dosage
Terzolin® 2% cream is intended for use in adults.In the case of seborrheic dermatitis, the cream is applied 1 to 2 times a day, and in the case of bran fungus, the cream is applied once a day to the diseased skin and the surrounding skin area (approx. 1 to 2 cm).Use should be continued until all symptoms have completely disappeared and for a few days beyond.Even after healing, the cream can occasionally be applied once a week or every two weeks to prevent symptoms from returning.
Intake
Before the first use, the seal on the tube should be pierced with the tip in the cap.The cream is massaged in with your finger until it is absorbed.
Patient information
The medicine must not get into the eye.If medicines containing cortisone are used at the same time, Terzolin® 2% cream should be used gradually.Use the cortisone-containing medicine in the morning and Terzolin® 2% cream in the evening for one week.Then apply the cortisone-containing medicine every 2 to 3 days in the morning and Terzolin® 2% cream every evening for one to two more weeks.Then stop using the cortisone-containing medicine and, if necessary, only use Terzolin® 2% cream.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.Keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children.
Pregnancy
Before using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.There are no known risks associated with using the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should still only use the medicine after consulting a doctor.Do not apply the medicine to the breast area during breastfeeding to avoid direct contact of the infant with the medicine.

Other
The general hygiene measures to avoid infections must be observed.In order to avoid an immediate recurrence of the symptoms after discontinuing long-term local cortisone treatment, it is recommended not to stop the local cortisone treatment immediately, but to initially continue the local cortisone treatment in the morning and apply the ketoconazole cream in the evening.Cortisone treatment should be stopped slowly over a period of 2-3 weeks.
