Application and effect

Lactulose STADA 66.7 g/100 ml syrup is used for constipation and diseases that require easier bowel movements.Constipation is a digestive disorder in which stool becomes solid and hard.Emptying requires great effort, occurs less frequently than usual and is sometimes painful.The amount of stool excreted is incomplete or too little.Taking lactulose STADA daily helps to gently regulate bowel movements.Lactulose STADA is well tolerated and the drug of choice for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Lactulose is an indigestible disaccharide made from milk sugar.The active ingredient draws water into the intestines, which softens the intestinal contents.In the large intestine, the agent can be broken down by the bacteria there.The resulting breakdown products, such as lactic acid and acetic acid, stimulate intestinal movement and thereby make bowel movements easier.Lactulose STADA is characterized by good long-term tolerability.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Lactulose STADA 66.7 g/100 ml syrup contains the active ingredient lactulose.100 ml of syrup contains 66.7 g of lactulose.Note: Due to the manufacturing process, lactulose STADA contains fructose, galactose and lactose.The other ingredients are D-galactose, lactose monohydrate and purified water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to lactulose or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.The product should also not be used if you have symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting and fever, as these can be signs of a serious illness such as intestinal obstruction or inflammation in the gastrointestinal area.If you experience such symptoms, you should seek medical advice immediately.In addition, the preparation must not be taken if you suffer from the rare hereditary form of fructose intolerance.

Dosage and intake

Lactulose STADA can be taken independently of meals.If a single dose is sufficient to successfully treat constipation, taking it in the morning after breakfast has proven to be particularly well tolerated.Please measure the dose required for you.This amount of syrup is then mixed with water or with warm drinks, e.g.E.g. coffee or tea, mixed or stirred into yogurt, muesli or porridge and taken with these foods.To prevent the dispenser from sticking, the dispenser should be closed after each removal.

The duration of treatment depends on the development of the respective clinical picture.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of lactulose STADA is too strong or too weak.

Patient information

The preparation should not be taken if there are water and electrolyte balance disorders.If you have been suffering from constipation for a long time, you should seek advice and examination from your doctor before starting therapy with the medication, as chronic disorders or impaired bowel movements can be signs of a more serious illness.Since an inherited fructose intolerance may not yet have been recognized in infants and small children, they should only receive the preparation after consulting a doctor.

The medicine has no adverse effects on perception, judgment or the ability to react.

Pregnancy

There are no known harmful effects of lactulose when taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding.Lactulose can also be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Notes

Lactulose STADA 66.7 g / 100 ml syrup is used for constipation, which cannot be adequately controlled by a high-fiber diet and other general measures, as well as for diseases that require easier bowel movements.For the prevention and treatment of portocaval encephalopathy (i.e. disorders of brain function resulting from chronic liver diseases, especially liver cirrhosis).Contains fructose, galactose and lactose.

Other

The laxative effect can occur after 2-10 hours; if the amounts are insufficient, it can take 24-48 hours before the first bowel movement.While taking the medication, care should be taken to eat a diet rich in fiber, as this supports the laxative effect.Raw vegetable salads and whole grain products are particularly suitable. Consuming large amounts of fresh yogurt promotes the important colonization of the colon with bifidus bacteria.Make sure you drink enough fluids (at least 2 liters daily).For diabetics, the synthetic content of lactulose in digestible carbohydrates must be taken into account (100 ml contains a maximum of 17g = 1.4 BE).
