ASS 500 - 1 A Pharma® contains the well-known and proven active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid.This active ingredient is widely used and has helped many people with headaches, fever or mild pain.The preparation has an anti-inflammatory effect, relieves pain such as headaches, toothaches and period pains and reduces fever in colds.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

The medicine is an analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory agent that belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/analgesics.It is used for mild to moderate pain and fever.It is particularly important to pay attention to the dosage information for children and adolescents.

The active ingredient is acetylsalicylic acid.One tablet contains 500 mg of acetylsalicylic acid.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch and cellulose powder.In addition, the preparation contains small amounts of total carbohydrates as an excipient.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to acetylsalicylic acid, other salicylates or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.Even if you have reacted to certain painkillers, antipyretics or anti-inflammatories in the past with asthma attacks or other hypersensitivity reactions, you should not use the preparation.Its use is also contraindicated in the case of acute stomach and intestinal ulcers, pathologically increased bleeding tendency, liver and kidney failure, severe heart muscle weakness that is not controlled by medication, and simultaneous intake of 15 mg or more methotrexate per week.The medicine must also not be taken in the last three months of pregnancy.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.The usual dose for children between 6 and 14 years is ½ to 1 tablet as a single dose, equivalent to 250 to 500 mg of acetylsalicylic acid.The total daily dose is 1½ to 3 tablets, corresponding to 750 to 1500 mg of acetylsalicylic acid.Adolescents and adults take 1 to 2 tablets as a single dose, equivalent to 500 to 1000 mg of acetylsalicylic acid, and as a total daily dose, 3 to 6 tablets, equivalent to 1500 to 3000 mg of acetylsalicylic acid.The single dose can be taken at intervals of 4 to 8 hours up to three times daily if necessary.If you have liver or kidney dysfunction, the dose must be reduced or the interval between doses must be extended.

Do not take this medicine for more than four days without medical or dental advice.If you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.If you suspect an overdose, which may be manifested by ringing in the ears, hearing problems, sweating, nausea, vomiting, headaches and dizziness, please notify your doctor immediately.

Intake

The medicine is intended to be taken orally.Take the tablets whole with plenty of liquid, such as a glass of water, and not on an empty stomach.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking the preparation if you are hypersensitive to other painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs or certain medicines for rheumatism.The medicine should also be taken with caution if you have allergies, asthma, hay fever, swollen nasal mucous membranes or chronic respiratory diseases.The same applies to simultaneous treatment with anticoagulant drugs, to a history of stomach or intestinal ulcers or bleeding, and to impaired liver and kidney function.You should inform your doctor or dentist before operations, as increased bleeding may occur.

In children and adolescents with feverish illnesses, the medicine should only be used on medical advice and only if other measures do not work.Prolonged vomiting may be a sign of Reye's syndrome, a very rare but life-threatening disease that requires immediate medical attention.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

You should not take the medicine in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy.Therefore, be sure to consult your doctor before taking it.In the last three months of pregnancy, you should not take acetylsalicylic acid before and during birth due to an increased risk of complications for the mother and child.The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid and its breakdown products pass into breast milk in small quantities.Since adverse consequences for the infant have not yet been reported, interruption of breastfeeding is not necessary if the recommended dose is used occasionally.However, if you use it for a long time or take high doses, you should stop breastfeeding.
