Mutaflor Suspension is an intestinal therapeutic for the treatment of diarrhoea in infants, toddlers and children. It contains the active ingredient Escherichia coli strain Nissle 1917, which can fight pathogenic microorganisms in the intestine and promotes the development of the body's own defences. The drug is also used for colonisation prophylaxis in premature and mature babies and to increase postnatal immunocompetence. The recommended dose is 1-3 ml per day for diarrhoea and 1-5 ml per day for diarrhoea under tube feeding. The suspension can be instilled directly from the ampoule into the mouth. The duration of use is up to 5 days for acute diarrhoea, up to 15 days for prolonged diarrhoea and up to 5 days per diarrhoea period for tube fed diarrhoea. The medicine should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 5 days after opening. There are no known harmful effects on pregnancy and lactation. Side effects are rare and usually mild. There are no special storage instructions. The medicinal product is manufactured by ARDEYPHARM and is available only from pharmacies. There should be no overdose symptoms, but a doctor should be consulted if there are any questions or uncertainties.
