Area of application

PVP-Iodine AL ointment is an antiseptic intended for use on skin and wounds.It is used for damaged skin such as decubitus (pressure ulcer), leg ulcer (leg ulcer), superficial wounds and burns, as well as infected and superinfected skin diseases.No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

PVP-Iodine AL ointment contains povidone-iodine, a germicidal agent that inhibits the spread of bacteria and fungi.Povidone-iodine is an iodine depot that, after being applied to the skin, releases the iodine it contains slowly and over a longer period of time.In the pH range of 2-7, a sterilizing effect occurs as the released iodine reacts with the surface of bacteria, viruses and fungi and kills them.Specific primary resistance to povidone-iodine and the development of secondary resistance after long-term use are not to be feared.
