ibudolor® acute 400 mg ibuprofen is a proven active ingredient for the treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever.The tablets are characterized by their rapid effectiveness and divisibility.

Area of application

ibudolor® acute 400 mg ibuprofen is suitable for use in various types of pain, such as headaches, toothaches and menstrual pain.It is also used to treat fever.In addition to its pain-relieving and fever-reducing effects, ibudolor® acute is also anti-inflammatory.The medicine is generally well tolerated and works quickly.

ibudolor® acute 400 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient ibuprofen.Each film-coated tablet contains 400 mg ibuprofen.The other ingredients are carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A) (Ph. Eur.), hypromellose, Macrogol 400, Macrogol 6000, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.) and corn starch.

The film-coated tablets are white, elongated and have a score line on both sides.ibudolor® acute 400 mg film-coated tablets are available in packs of 10, 20 and 50 film-coated tablets.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are known to be hypersensitive to the active ingredient ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients.The medicine should also not be used if you have asthma attacks, nasal mucous membrane swelling or skin reactions after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the past.Furthermore, it must not be taken in the case of unexplained blood formation disorders, existing or recurring stomach/duodenal ulcers or bleeding, a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, cerebral hemorrhage or other active bleeding, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, severe heart failure, in the last trimester of pregnancy or in children under 20 kg (6 years of age).

Dosage

The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with sufficient water, ideally during or after a meal.If you have a sensitive stomach, it is recommended to take it with meals.The application should not last longer than 4 days unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor.Missed intake should not be compensated for by increasing the dose.

The recommended dose of ibudolor® acute depends on body weight and age.After the maximum single dose, at least 6 hours should elapse before the next dose.No special adjustment is required for older people.

Children aged 6 to 9 years (20-29 kg) should take ½ film-coated tablet (200 mg ibuprofen), up to a maximum of 1½ film-coated tablets (600 mg ibuprofen) per day.Children aged 10 to 12 years (30-39 kg) should take ½ film-coated tablet (200 mg ibuprofen), up to a maximum of 2 film-coated tablets (800 mg ibuprofen) per day.Children and adolescents aged 12 and over as well as adults (from 40 kg) should take ½-1 film-coated tablet (200-400 mg ibuprofen), a maximum of 3 film-coated tablets (1200 mg ibuprofen) per day.

Intake

Please take the film-coated tablets whole with plenty of liquid, such as a glass of water, during or after a meal.If you have a sensitive stomach, it is recommended to take it with meals.

Patient information

Please talk to your pharmacist before taking this medicine.Side effects can be minimized by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest period of time.Concomitant use with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should be avoided.

Older patients are more likely to experience side effects, particularly bleeding and perforations in the stomach and intestines, which can be life-threatening.Therefore, particularly careful medical monitoring is required in older patients.

Gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers and perforations may occur during treatment.The risk is higher with increasing doses, in patients with a history of ulcers and in older patients.These patients should begin treatment at the lowest available dose.

Anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen may be associated with a slightly increased risk of a heart attack or stroke.Do not exceed the recommended dose or treatment duration.

Severe skin reactions can occur very rarely.At the first sign of skin rashes or other signs of a hypersensitivity reaction, you should stop taking the medication and consult a doctor immediately.

In the case of certain congenital blood formation disorders or autoimmune diseases, the drug should only be used after careful consideration of the benefit-risk ratio.

If you have impaired kidney function or liver dysfunction, particularly careful medical monitoring is required.

Severe acute hypersensitivity reactions are very rarely observed.Therapy must be discontinued at the first signs of a severe hypersensitivity reaction.

Ibuprofen can temporarily inhibit platelet function.Patients with blood clotting disorders should therefore be carefully monitored.

If medicines containing ibuprofen are used at the same time, the anticoagulant effect of low-dose acetylsalicylic acid may be impaired.

If this medication is administered for a long time, regular monitoring of liver values, kidney function and blood counts is necessary.

If you take this medicine before surgical procedures, you should consult or inform your doctor or dentist.

Prolonged use of painkillers can make headaches worse.If this is the case, medical advice should be sought and treatment discontinued.

Habitual use of painkillers can cause permanent kidney damage.

Drinking alcohol at the same time can increase the side effects caused by the active ingredient.

Children and young people

There is a risk of kidney dysfunction in dehydrated children and adolescents.Please note the information under the “Contraindications” category".

Ability to drive and use machines

Since central nervous side effects such as tiredness and dizziness can occur when using the drug in higher doses, in individual cases the ability to react can be changed and the ability to actively participate in road traffic and operate machines can be impaired.This is especially true when combined with alcohol.You can then no longer react quickly and specifically enough to unexpected and sudden events.In this case, do not drive a car or other vehicles!Do not operate any tools or machines!Do not work without a secure hold!

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

If pregnancy is discovered while using this medicine, the doctor should be notified.You may only use ibuprofen in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy after consulting your doctor.This medicine must not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy due to an increased risk of complications for mother and child.

The active ingredient ibuprofen and its breakdown products only pass into breast milk in small quantities.Since there are no known adverse consequences for the infant, it is generally not necessary to interrupt breastfeeding if used for a short period of time.However, if longer use or higher doses are prescribed, early cessation of breastfeeding should be considered.

This medicine belongs to a group of medicines that may affect fertility in women.This effect is reversible after discontinuation of the drug.
