Description of the drug

This medicine is a vitamin and mineral supplement specifically designed to support bone health.It contains important nutrients such as vitamin D and calcium, which are used to prevent and treat osteoporosis and to treat deficiencies in the elderly.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The preparation contains 1500 mg of calcium carbonate, which corresponds to 600 mg of calcium ions.In addition, 4 mg of colecalciferol dry concentrate is included, which corresponds to 400 IE colecalciferol.Excipients include butylated hydroxytoluene, gelatin, 0.05 BE carbohydrates, magnesium stearate, pregelatinized corn starch, mannitol, sodium aluminum silicate, sucrose, colloidal silicon dioxide, modified starch, medium chain triglycerides, xylitol, fruit flavor.

Areas of application

This medicine is used to support specific therapy, prevent and treat osteoporosis.It is also used to prevent and treat vitamin D and calcium deficiencies in the elderly.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are known to be hypersensitive to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients.It should also not be used if you have any medical conditions or conditions that may result in high levels of calcium in your blood or urine.Patients with kidney stones or too high a vitamin D level (hypervitaminosis) should also not take the medicine.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.The usual dose for adults is 1 chewable tablet once or twice daily.If you have severe kidney dysfunction, the medicine must not be taken.No dosage adjustment is necessary in cases of liver dysfunction.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you feel that the effect is too strong or too weak.

If you have taken more of the medicine than you should, a one-time overdose usually has no consequences.However, overdose symptoms can occur if excessive intake is sustained.Signs of an overdose include increased thirst, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, exhaustion and abnormally increased urine output.If you suspect an overdose, please notify your doctor.

If you forget to take the medicine, do not take a double dose.Stick to the current dosage.

Intake

The chewable tablets are chewed and swallowed.They can also be sucked.

Patient information

Take special care when taking the medicine if you suffer from a certain lung disease (sarcoidosis).In this case, calcium levels in the blood and urine should be monitored.During long-term treatment, your doctor should check serum calcium levels and monitor kidney function by measuring serum creatinine.This is particularly important in older patients who are taking cardiac glycosides or diuretics.

If you are prescribed other vitamin D preparations at the same time, your doctor should take into account the daily dose of up to 800 IU of vitamin D administered with the medicine.Additional intake of other vitamin D-containing preparations should only be taken under close medical supervision.In these cases, regular monitoring of calcium levels in the blood and urine is necessary.

If you have immobilization osteoporosis, you are at increased risk of developing hypercalcemia.In case of kidney dysfunction, vitamin D should be used carefully while monitoring calcium and phosphate levels.If there is severe kidney dysfunction, vitamin D in the form of colecalciferol is not metabolized normally.Your doctor should therefore prescribe you another vitamin D preparation.

The medicine can be harmful to your teeth.No special precautions are required when driving or using machines.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, the daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU vitamin D3.You should therefore not take more than one chewable tablet of the medicine daily. Overdoses of vitamin D must be avoided in pregnant women because persistently elevated blood calcium levels have been linked to harmful effects on the developing fetus.There is no evidence that vitamin D in therapeutic doses causes fetal malformations in humans.If calcium and vitamin D deficiency occurs during pregnancy, the medicine can be taken.

Calcium and vitamin D3 pass into breast milk.This must be taken into account if the child is also given vitamin D3.Before taking/using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.
