Ginkgo-Maren® 120 mg is used for the symptomatic treatment of organic brain-related performance disorders as part of an overall therapeutic concept in the event of a decline or loss of acquired mental abilities (dementia syndrome) with the main complaints such as memory disorders, concentration disorders, depressive moods, dizziness, ringing in the ears and headaches.

The individual response to medication cannot be predicted.Before treatment with this medicine is started, it should be clarified whether the symptoms are not due to an underlying disease that requires specific treatment.Frequently occurring feelings of dizziness and ringing in the ears generally require clarification by a doctor.If hearing impairment or hearing loss suddenly occurs, you should consult a doctor immediately.

1 Film-coated tablet contains 120 mg dry extract from Ginkgo biloba leaves (35 - 67: 1), extractant: acetone 60% (m/m).The extract is quantified to contain 26.4 - 32.4 mg flavonoids, calculated as flavonoid glycosides, as well as 6.0 - 8.4 mg terpene lactones, of which 3.36 - 4.08 mg ginkgolides A, B and C and 3.12 - 3.84 mg bilobalide and contains less than 0.6 µg ginkgolic acids per film-coated tablet.

Other ingredients: Spray-dried glucose syrup, highly disperse, hydrophobic silicon dioxide, lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, citric acid, talc, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.) [pflanzlich], basic butyl methacrylate copolymer (Ph. Eur.), sodium dodecyl sulfate, stearic acid (Ph. Eur.) [pflanzlich],Saccharin sodium, vanillin, iron (III) hydroxide oxide (E 172), hydrogenated castor oil.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to Ginkgo biloba or any of the other ingredients of this medicine or if you are pregnant.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the recommended dose is: Adults aged 18 and over should take ½ - 1 film-coated tablet twice daily (corresponding to 120 - 240 mg ginkgo extract per day).It is taken twice daily in the morning and evening.The medicine is not intended for use in people under 18 years of age.

In the case of performance disorders caused by organic brain disorders, the treatment duration should be at least 8 weeks.After a treatment period of 3 months, the doctor must check whether continued treatment is still justified.

If you have taken more than you should, please notify your doctor.This can decide on any necessary measures.

Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.

If treatment is interrupted or stopped prematurely, your symptoms may worsen or recur.

Intake

Do not take the tablets lying down.Please take the tablets whole with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of drinking water).It can be taken regardless of meals.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.There are no sufficient studies on the use of this medicine in this age group.It should therefore not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 18.

If you have a pathologically increased tendency to bleeding (hemorrhagic diathesis) or if you are being treated with anticoagulant medications at the same time, this medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor.

Since there is evidence that preparations containing ginkgo can increase the risk of bleeding, this medicine must be discontinued before surgery.Please inform your doctor in good time if you have taken the medicine so that he can decide how to proceed.

If you have a known seizure disorder (epilepsy), please consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

There are no known effects on participation in road traffic or when operating machines or working without a secure footing.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Since there is some evidence that preparations containing ginkgo could increase the risk of bleeding, this medicine must not be taken during pregnancy.

This medicine should not be used during breastfeeding as there are no sufficient studies.It is not known whether the ingredients of the extract pass into breast milk.

Contains lactose and glucose.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
