Microlax is a laxative used for short-term use in constipation and in conditions requiring easier defecation. It can also be used for bowel evacuation during diagnostic or therapeutic measures in the rectal region. Microlax contains the active ingredients sodium citrate, dodecyl(sulfoacetate) and sorbitol solution 70%. It is used as a rectal solution and acts locally by softening the stool in the rectum and facilitating defecation. It is applied once and usually takes 5-20 minutes to take effect. Microlax is well tolerated and can also be used in babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women.
