What ingredients does the anti-allergic drug contain?One film-coated tablet contains 10 mg of the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.Cetirizine dihydrochloride prevents the messenger histamine, which is responsible for allergic symptoms, from connecting with the receptors and developing its effect.These active ingredients are called antihistamines and are suitable for treating acute complaints.

Other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, macrogol 4,000, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.) [pflanzlich], highly dispersed silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide (E 171).One tablet corresponds to less than 0.01 BE.This medicine contains lactose.

Contraindications

When should Cetirizin Aristo® 10 mg film-coated tablets not be used for allergies?Cetirizine Aristo® for allergies 10 mg film-coated tablets must not be taken if you are allergic to the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride or one of the other ingredients or to hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives;in severe kidney disease.

Dosage

How is Cetirizin Aristo® 10 mg film-coated tablets taken for allergies?Cetirizine Aristo® for allergies is a non-prescription anti-allergic medication.Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.Take the film-coated tablets whole with liquid, preferably in the evening.Cetirizin Aristo® can be taken without regard to meals.

Unless otherwise prescribed, the recommended dose is: Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults: 1 film-coated tablet of Cetirizine Aristo® (10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride) daily, preferably in the evening.Children and adolescents aged 6-12: take a dosage adapted to their body weight: body weight less than 30 kg, ½ film-coated tablet daily in the evening, body weight more than 30 kg, 1 film-coated tablet daily in the evening.A distribution into 2 individual doses (½ film-coated tablet each morning and evening) is possible in individual cases.Renal insufficiency: In patients with renal insufficiency, the recommended dose should be halved.

Duration of use of Cetirizin Aristo® for allergies 10 mg film-coated tablets.The duration of treatment depends on the type, duration and course of the symptoms and is determined by the doctor.For hay fever, 3-6 weeks is generally sufficient - or just 1 week for short-term pollen exposure.There is experience of up to 6 months in the supportive treatment of asthmatic conditions of allergic origin.For chronic hives and chronic allergic rhinitis, there is up to 1 year of experience with the use of Cetirizin Aristo®.

Intake

The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of liquid.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor before taking cetirizine if you have impaired kidney function. If necessary, you will take a lower dose.Your doctor will determine the new dose.You have difficulty urinating (e.g. due to problems with the spinal cord, prostate or urinary bladder).You have epilepsy or are at risk of seizures.

No interactions with noticeable effects were observed between alcohol (at a blood level of 0.5 per mille, equivalent to approximately one glass of wine) and cetirizine in normal doses.However, as with all antihistamines, it is recommended to avoid taking alcohol at the same time.Allergic skin tests are blocked by antihistamines such as cetirizine, which require a drug-free period of 3 days before taking them.

The use of film-coated tablets is not recommended in children under 6 years of age as this formulation does not allow for appropriate dose adjustment.

In clinical studies, cetirizine at the recommended dose did not produce any signs of impaired attention, alertness or driving ability.If you intend to drive, work without a secure footing or operate machines, you should not use more than the recommended dose.You should closely monitor your reaction to the medicine.If you are sensitive, you may find that concomitant use of alcohol or other central nervous system depressants may further impair your alertness and ability to react.

Pregnancy

Before taking any medicines, ask your doctor for advice.As with other medicines, cetirizine should be avoided by pregnant women.Accidental ingestion of the drug by pregnant women should not cause adverse health effects to the fetus.Nevertheless, taking the drug should be stopped.Because cetirizine passes into breast milk, you should ask your doctor whether you can take cetirizine while breastfeeding.
