Ibutop Schmerzgel is an analgesic and anti-inflammatory medicine for rubbing into the skin. It is used for the sole or supportive external treatment of swellings and inflammations of the soft tissues near the joints as well as for sports and accident injuries such as bruises, sprains and strains. The recommended dose is one 4-10 cm gel strand 3 times a day, corresponding to 2-5 g gel (100-250 mg ibuprofen) per application. The maximum total daily dose is 15 g of gel, corresponding to 750 mg of ibuprofen. The gel is applied to the skin and rubbed in. The duration of use is usually 2-3 weeks. The gel must not be ingested. It is important to read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The medicine must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the active substance or other painkillers and rheumatism medicines, if there are open injuries, inflammations or infections of the skin or in the last trimester of pregnancy. Side effects may include skin reactions such as redness, itching, burning or drying. The medicinal product must be protected from heat and used within 3 months after opening.
