Ibutop Schmerzgel is an analgesic and anti-inflammatory medicine for external use on the skin. It contains the active ingredient ibuprofen and is used to treat swelling and inflammation in soft tissues near joints such as bursae, tendons and ligaments. The gel can also be used for sports and accident injuries such as bruises, sprains and strains. The recommended dose is a 4-10 cm strand of gel 3 times a day, depending on the size of the painful area to be treated. The maximum total daily dose is 15 g of gel. The gel is applied to the skin and rubbed in gently. It can also be intensified by iontophoresis, a special form of electrotherapy, which penetrates the skin. The duration of application depends on the type of complaints and is usually 2-3 weeks. Use beyond this period has not been proven. The gel should not be applied to open injuries, inflamed skin, eczema or mucous membranes. Use during the last trimester of pregnancy is not recommended. The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to ibuprofen or other painkillers and rheumatism medicines, have open injuries, inflammations or infections of the skin or are in the last trimester of pregnancy. Possible side effects of the gel may include hypersensitivity reactions of the skin such as redness, itching, burning or drying. Ibutop Schmerzgel also contains fragrances and should be kept out of reach of children.
